We were thrilled to have a packed house at this weekend's Bring Back the Pollinators presentation at the Smyrna Public Library! A special thanks to Denise Wilson, ambassador for the Xerces Society of Invertebrate Conservation, for helping us all learn more about Georgia's native pollinators and how to protect them.

Want to keep learning? Join us on Thursday, June 25 for Bees & Blooms, a walkthrough of the latest Pollinator Pocket garden at River Line Park: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/blooms-bees-a-pollinator-pocket-walkthrough-tickets-1991076705023?msockid=3705f7dbf03261c3089ae0a9f125601

Water smarter! Morning watering at the roots = healthier plants and less waste. (Bonus tip: Growing plants native to the area also saves water since they need less to thrive!)

Join us this Sunday (6/7/26) at the Smyrna Public Library for a free talk on pollinators, the threats they face, and how you can help. Featuring ambassador Denise Wilson. See link in bio for details.

🌿Do you know of a beautiful garden in Smyrna that deserves the spotlight?

Keep Smyrna Beautiful is officially accepting applications and nominations for the 2027 Smyrna Garden Tour! Join us Saturday, May 15, 2027, for our premier annual celebration of the yards, blooms, and green spaces that make our community shine.

Wildlife sanctuary? Pollinator paradise? Colorful cottage garden? We want to see it. We're looking for a variety of gardens that inspire neighbors to get outside, beautify their own spaces, and care for the local ecosystem.

Bonus points if your garden:
✅ Has on-street parking
✅ Features a variety of plants with few to no invasives
✅ Has been primarily planted and tended by the homeowner
(Professional landscaping? No problem — it doesn't disqualify you!)

Apply or nominate a neighbor at the link below 👇

Ants in the garden? A simple mix of borax and sugar acts as a targeted bait. Ants carry it back to the nest and over the course of a few days, the colony will collapse. Because we’re not spraying, we’re minimizing risk to other insects while protecting ourselves from ant bites.

Like every community, Smyrna is impacted by litter. The 2026 National Litter Study by helps us understand where we’re making progress and where we need to take action to tackle ongoing challenges.

School is out, and that means free time with the kids!

What better way to stave off boredom that volunteering to help your community? And the best part is, no sign-ups required! You can do all these activities independently in the comfort of your home.

Most Keep Smyrna Beautiful volunteer opportunities are for ages 12 and up—but that doesn’t mean younger kids can’t make a big impact! 🌱

We’ve created a packet with easy, kid-friendly ways to help from home, plus step-by-step guides on how to:
• Organize a litter cleanup
• Plant wildflowers
• Set up recycling at home
• Coordinate a recycling drive

Small hands can still do big things for Smyrna 💚
