Meet KSB's newest lead volunteers! Last night, this cohort completed their first step of training to independently guide volunteers at litter cleanups, habitat rehabilitation opportunities, outreach events, and more.

Having lead volunteers increases KSB's capacity to do more of the work that helps keep our community clean, green, and beautiful.

Do you know of a beautiful garden in Smyrna that deserves the spotlight?

Keep Smyrna Beautiful is accepting applications and nominations for the 2027 Smyrna Garden Tour! Join us Saturday, May 15, 2027, for our annual celebration of the yards, blooms, and green spaces that make our community shine.

Wildlife sanctuary? Pollinator paradise? Colorful cottage garden? We want to see it. We're looking for a variety of gardens that inspire neighbors to get outside, beautify their own spaces, and care for the local ecosystem.

Bonus points if your garden:
✅ Has on-street parking
✅ Features a variety of plants with few to no invasives
✅ Has been primarily planted and tended by the homeowner
(Professional landscaping? No problem — it doesn't disqualify you!)

This past weekend, some of our awesome KSB volunteers picked up 75 pounds of litter, including 15 pounds of recyclable material, from South Cobb Dr. That's material that won't end up in our streams and creeks, harming wildlife and polluting our water sources. Plus, the recyclables will be given a second life instead of going to the landfill!

It's time to count! The 2026 Great Southeast Pollinator Census is officially open.

Join thousands of community scientists for the Great Southeast Pollinator Census today (August 21) and tomorrow to help gather important data about pollinators.

✨ What you'll do: Count pollinators!
✨ Why it matters: Your data directly supports pollinator conservation efforts.
✨ Where to go: Anywhere pollinators land!

If you need a place to observe, you can visit one of KSB's pollinator pocket gardens at the Smyrna Recycling Center (3475 Lake Dr.) between 8am-4pm, or at River Line Park (6043 Oakdale Rd.) during open park hours. If you come to the Smyrna Recycling Center, we'll even leave out some counting sheets!

After the count: Login and report your findings online. It only takes a few minutes! Link in bio to print out instructions, counting sheets, and learn more.

No experience needed - just bring your curiosity and help us protect these vital creatures that keep our ecosystems thriving! 🌻

Have you seen an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail this summer? They feed on nectar from a variety of flowers including milkw**d, goldenrod, and Joe-Pye w**d and lay their eggs on host plants like tulip poplar and sweet bay magnolia. Adding these plants to your yard may earn you a visit next summer!
