💙💛 Welcoming Our District Governor Cynthia Dorsey Edwards — Creating Lasting Impact and Promote Peace! 💛💙

What a wonderful day at the Rotary Club of Smyrna, GA!! 💙💛

On Tuesday August 11th we were honored to welcome District Governor Cynthia Dorsey Edwards of Rotary District 6900 for the 2026–2027 Rotary year.

We started with a club’s blessing done by our dear friend Chaplain Ramona Curtis McCary followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and a wonderful lunch served by Mike Hickman from The Bountiful Basket Catering, LLC.

Her visit was filled with inspiration, fellowship, history, and a powerful reminder of what Rotary is all about — People of Action coming together to Create Lasting Impact and Promote Peace.

From learning more about Rotary’s vision for the year ahead to sharing stories, celebrating our club’s traditions, and connecting with fellow Rotarians, family and friends, it was a meaningful and memorable gathering.

A special thank you to District Governor Cynthia Dorsey Edwards for sharing her vision, energy, and passion for Rotary with us. Your message encouraged us to continue looking for meaningful ways to serve our community and make a difference.

District Governor 6900 Cynthia Dorsey Edwards awarded our members Ramesh Gupta with a two stones Paul Harris pin and Snyder Turner with a four stones Paul Harris pin. It was a special moment celebrating the dedication our members have with Rotary and Serving Above Self.

As we begin this new Rotary year, the message is clear:

Our ROTARY CLUB of Smyrna, GA got together with the Rotary Club of Vinings Cumberland and the Rotary Atlanta Brasil to help today’s Artportunity Knocks event at the Battery Atlanta where children and their families had a fun inspiring time getting to know a bit more about several institutions like Rotary International and went home bringing a new backpack full of gifts and school supplies 📚🎒May this coming school year be a very successful one! 📚🎒

We are excited to continue a summer coffee meeting centered around connecting Rotarians/ Potential Rotarians for more meaningful conversations around business and service above self. We plan to alternate location 2nd Tuesdays at Panera, and 4th Tuesdays at Atlanta Bread so we can reach some of our Vining’s friends.

This Tuesday, 2025-26 President Lauren Blankenship transferred the gavel to 2026-27 President Geisa Salati, marking the conclusion of our Rotary year and the commencement of a new one.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Lauren for her dedication and enthusiasm during her tenure and wish Geisa a successful and prosperous year ahead.

Continuing with our 'Know Our Rotarians' segment, Jeffrey Tucker and Bill Keappler delivered presentations, both having made significant contributions to Rotary throughout their long Rotarian lives.

Prior to adjourning the meeting, President Geisa Salati presented the President-Elect pin to Jeffrey Tucker, acknowledging his acceptance of the role for 2027-28.

Notably, the pin Jeffrey received was previously presented to Geisa by Lauren, establishing a charming tradition in our club.

We were honored by the visit of Rotary Club Atlanta Brasil President Josiane Carolino, and we look forward to potential collaborations.

Lunch was expertly catered by Chef Mike from Bountiful Basket Catering.
