A message from our Camp Director at Buck Run:
Hello Buck Run Campers,
As many of you may already know, we had a huge storm sweep though camp on Saturday. The winds knocked trees over throughout both camps.
Luckily no one was hurt and none of our structures were badly damaged. A good number of our canvas tents however were torn.
> We have a ton of work to do cleaning up the trees and branches to get our camp ready for the season.
> Jennifer Bittner will be at Buck Run on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning if anyone has some time to help clear trees. They will also have a team at Conestoga on Saturday doing the same.
If you are available please let us know.
> While we love having the cub scouts at camp and know they would love to help, this particular job is dangerous. There may be some jobs that are cub scout sized (and safe for them) but most of the work will need to be done by adults.
> On top of all the extra work we have to get done now we also have a shortage of tents. Please consider bringing a family tent this year if you have one. I know there is a lack of flat ground on our ridges, especially Rocky but we do have platforms. The platforms are roughly 9' by 9".
> Please let us know ASAP if you are willing to bring your own tent and if it is small enough to fit onto one of the platforms so we can reconfigure the ridge maps.
> Thank you in advance for all your help and understanding!
Please feel free to reach out with questions.
