This special Rotarian, TOM YODER was recognized by President Debby Puglia for an extraordinary random act of kindness that he performed last month. He was able to provide shelter, comfort and transportation to a young family in immediate need with no warning and no hesitation. His story motivated the Club to get involved by collecting baby items at last week's meeting, that were delivered to the family. Tom worked together with Debby and others to pull the resources together to help out that day. Thank You Tom, for showing us "Service above Self."

What a great night at Belle Vernon Area Rotary Club to be handing out $21000 in scholarships to six deserving students in the BVA and Frazier School Districts!! Congratulations to our recipients - GABRIELLA DUSI, JENNA PELLICK, RICHARD TRUGGIANI, SPENCER ANDERSON, and PALOMA WARNER. We enjoyed hearing your essays and meeting your parents!! It is aways an exciting time to award scholarships at Belle Vernon Area Rotary Club and after receiving dozens of applications we are pleased to announce our first recipient, Madelyn Salisbury from Frazier High School. She is an outstanding student who plans to attend Penn West to pursue a degree in education and play volleyball. Congrats Madelyn! Thank you to the Scholarship Committee Chris Giannamore, Tom Yoder, John Habel, and Joann Kazmierczak. The other scolarship recipients will be honored at a banquet to be held next week.

Our Club had two projects going on at the same time on Saturday, Rotary's Epic Day of Service! Work was happening at our Rail Car at the West Newton Station, and also at the Rotary Pavilion at Smithton also on the GAP trail! Thank you to more than 20 Rotarians that showed up to beautify and maintain these two Rotary facilities enjoyed and utilized by the citizens in the communities we serve. Great work everybody! Shout out to our team leaders, Sam and Sandy, Rail Car, and Tom Yoder, Smithton Pavilion.
