In this week's About The Arc, we're spotlighting one of our most foundational core values: People First. 💙

At The Arc of Bristol County proAbility, "People First" is more than a phrase — it's the lens through which every decision, every service, and every interaction is shaped.

What does that look like in practice?

It means we begin with the person — their needs, their goals, their voice. It means we believe, without exception, that every individual carries inherent value, unique strengths, and the capacity to lead a meaningful life. And it means that dignity and respect are not earned — they are the baseline of every relationship we build.

We are committed to ensuring our services are not just available, but genuinely responsive — designed around the people we support, not the other way around. When people are empowered to make informed, real choices about their own lives, that's when our mission comes to life.

People First. Always.

This National Nurses Week, we want to shine a light on the incredible nurses who show up — not just with clinical skill, but with genuine compassion — for the people we support at The Arc of Bristol County proAbility. 💛🧡💙

Our nurses don't just treat — they listen, advocate, and build trust with individuals who deserve nothing less than extraordinary care. To every nurse who works at The Arc, your power isn't just in what you do. It's in how you make people feel seen, heard, and cared for.

Happy Administrative Professionals Appreciation Day!

Today, we’re celebrating the incredible administrative professionals who keep our agency running every single day: Claudia, Danielle, Elizabeth (Liz), Janice, Jia, Jenn, Melissa, and Zoe.

Administrative Professionals are often the very first point of contact for the individuals and families we serve, setting the tone with compassion, patience, and professionalism. The care and dedication they bring to every interaction do not go unnoticed.

To our Admins, you are valued, appreciated, and an essential part of our mission—today and every day!

Introducing our new theme, About The Arc! We're excited to share key insights and resources to support our community.

At The Arc of Bristol County and proAbility, we stand by six Core Values: People First, Democracy, Visionary Leadership, Community Partnerships, Diversity, and Integrity & Excellence.

Today, let's talk about democracy. The Arc advocates for individuals on crucial issues and policies, empowering everyone to share their voice.

Voting is a fundamental right, yet many individuals with disabilities face significant hurdles: inaccessible polling places, transportation issues, and strict ID laws. Unfortunately, these challenges are growing.

➡️Congress is debating the SAVE America Act, a bill that would add new barriers to voter registration and make mail-in voting harder.

➡️On March 31, the President signed an executive order that could block the U.S. Postal Service from sending absentee ballots to millions of eligible voters.

For people with disabilities, that's a big deal. More than half of voters with disabilities cast their ballot by mail in 2020, and that right needs to be protected.

Tell Congress to Protect Voting Rights for People With Disabilities!
