This week’s sermon will cover Numbers 9:1-14, where the children of Israel will be celebrating the Passover right before they leave for the promised land. Here are some things to be thinking through as you read the passage:

1. Why was the Passover such an important celebration in the life of Israel? What did it symbolize?
2. Read vs. 6-7. What is the significance of this moment? How does this addition to the law show God’s grace?
3. Read vs. 13-14. Why is it good news for us today that the Passover included foreigners and sojourners?

When the Levites reached 50 years of age, they were retired from service. But they didn’t sit on their laurels for the remainder of their days, no! They would spend their time bringing up the next generation who would replace them, teaching them the intricacies of all their Levitical duties. Oftentimes we want to judge our lives by our mountaintop experiences, but, important as they are, it’s the repetitive things, what we do in the day to day mundanity that builds a Christian life. Our daily walk speaks much, much more about what we believe and Who we serve.
