2026 data shows that the 21.6% of Siouxlands individuals experiencing homelessness are unsheltered.

These are the individuals a council member believes are harming downtown. These are the individuals whose actions are being connected to The Warming Shelter, when in reality, they are the people who remain unsheltered and are not receiving services from any provider.

If The Warming Shelter didn’t exist, the individuals who are doing the right things, engaging in services, working toward stability, and rebuilding, would be the ones punished for a problem that is not theirs to solve.

The majority of people who are not accessing services and remain unsheltered are those who cannot remain safe enough to engage in services, or are those who do not want services at all.

The Siouxland Coalition to End Homelessness hosted another community resource fair on Tuesday March 17th and it was a great success! We had over 85 attendees that were assisted by 27 service providers-- even despite surprise wintery weather!

Among the many services provided, the Iowa Department of Transportation was onsite and issued 13 state IDs! We plan to continue partnering with the DOT to provide access to documentation in the community at future events. Stay tuned for details of our next resource fair!

A special thank you goes out to Molina Healthcare of Iowa for providing a delicious breakfast and lots of personal care items! This has been a wonderful partnership for providing essential items to our unhoused neighbors.

Thank you to all of the agencies and providers that came together to provide same day services to our community!
