Delphi is ready for trick-or-treating (treats preferable)! This older gal is a sweet, adorable pup. She’s currently in foster and has spent her days digging up every toy out of her bin and walking around with her favorite stuffy as a trophy. She’s a goofball when she is relaxed and can light a whole room up when she flops over for belly rubs or gallops around when she’s happy. She gives all her love and really wants someone to give it to permanently. If you are interested in adopting this sweet girl check out our page for the link to our adoptable pets! 🫧🩷

Thanks to Poulsbo Coffee Company, our adoptable dude Dewberry had a pup cup, and he was so polite about it. 🥹 His neighbor didn’t approve though. 😔 (Don’t worry, we gave the neighbor pup love too.)

Poulsbo Coffee Company is our Puppuccino Pal of the month. They are a local, family-owned shop that loves connecting with the community and getting visits from all the pups too. If you are craving a cup, grab your pup and go get some of their delicious coffee! ☕️

This year, we’ve awarded Molly “I love dogs” Clark, a beloved, long-term volunteer at KHS, the Apple of Our Eye Award!

KHS’ Apple of Our Eye Award - named in honor of former Washington State Representative and KHS Board Member Sherry Appleton - honors volunteers or organizations who have made significant contributions to the success or development of Kitsap Humane Society or have made extraordinary contributions to animal welfare in the Pacific Northwest.

Molly’s contributions to KHS are endless, and we are so happy to have her as a volunteer, supporter, and friend of KHS! THANK YOU MOLLYYYYY! 🎉🥳🍾

If you are interested in being a super cool and helpful volunteer like Molly, check out the volunteer link on our page or below for more info. 😁

😔 You will be missed. One of our resident dogs showed some love to our very limited supply of herding balls. These balls are a very valuable source of enrichment for high energy dogs. Well, the energy has been released and now we need some help resupplying the balls so our doggies can get all their zoomies out while they are staying at the shelter. If you are interested in enriching our pups, check out the behavior team’s Amazon wishlist in the link below or at the link on our profile, find the he herding balls, and it will be shipped straight to us. The doggies thank you in advance! 🧡

Solstice (grey and white) and Gear are a bonded pair of baby cats who adore each other. Solstice is shy and Gear is slightly more of an extrovert. They can be a little nervous around new faces BUUUUT once they decompress (and are given a churu or two, of course!) these two will accept pets and loving. Their foster family says they make great company, especially at night, because they will sleep right by their side. 🥹 Plus, look how adorable they are when they love on each other. Ugh, we love bonded kitties!

If you are interested in fostering or adopting these two, check out the link on our profile that says “Foster” or “Adopt Here!” and fill out an application before these two get swept up by someone else. 🥰

We are having double shots today! Our adoptable, bonded pair Thor and Luther had the tastiest treat thanks to our Puppuccino Pal of the month, Poulsbo Coffee Company! Poulsbo Coffee Company is a local, family-owned shop, and they truly rock. They love connecting with the community, and getting visits from all the pups too, so grab your pup and go get a cup of their delicious coffee! ☕️

This is Dewberry. He is 16 pounds of small dog with a retired drill sergeant’s confidence. He takes his time deciding who’s worthy, but once you’re in, he’s loyal to the end and would square up to a bear for you. 😤 This guy is the big dog and knows what he wants, preferably an adult-only home with a quiet routine, no other dogs, and not a lot of visitors coming through. Think tiny king who runs the neighborhood watch from the couch.

If you are interested in adopting, fostering, or just helping Dewbs find a home that’s not the shelter, check the link below or on our profile for more info, and share this so he gets exposure! WOOF.

Ok friends. The confetti has settled, the lions, tigers, and bears are gone, and Animal Krackers 2026 is in the books. Thanks to YOU, we raised a new record of $571,000!

365 people filled the ballroom, the most since pre-COVID, and the costumes, the energy, the food, the bidding - EVERYTHING was incredible.

There were so many highlights. The calendar cover went for $11,600, we received a surprise $25,000 gift from the Jacobi Foundation, and our friends from Svanee’s Foundation stepped up to match every $10,000 paddle, which added $90,000 to Fund-a-Need. When we say we had happy and overwhelmed tears at the end of the night, we mean it. Our gratitude for the support is truly immeasurable.

Thank you to our Board of Directors for filling tables, finding desserts, bidding against each other, and cheering everyone on. The night wouldn’t have been the same without you.

And thank you to everyone who came, gave, and celebrated with us. This means the world to us and to the animals in our care. This gala is going down in KHS history! ❤
