The Grant County Prospectors invite local organizations, agencies, and institutions to participate in the Annual Legislative Communication Forum, taking place Thursday, December 3, 2026, at WNMU Light Hall from 8:00 a.m.

This Forum was created at the request of our local legislators and remains one of the most important opportunities of the year for community partners to share their priorities.

On Friday, August 14, Prospectors joined local legislators, state officials, veterans’ organizations, service providers, and regional leaders at the Fort Bayard Medical Center in Santa Clara for the New Mexico Legislature’s Military and Veterans’ Affairs Interim Committee meeting.

The meeting brought important conversations about veterans’ services and the future of Fort Bayard directly to our community.

Our President, Priscilla Lucero, along with Senator Gabriel Ramos and Representative Luis Terrazas, were honored to extend a warm Grant County welcome to Dr. Verenice Gutierrez, Superintendent of Cobre Consolidated Schools, and Dr. Jose Coll, President of Western New Mexico University.

The Prospectors were pleased to host a special reception celebrating these outstanding leaders, and we look forward to working together to strengthen our community.

The Prospectors celebrated another successful Passing of the Gavel yesterday as outgoing President Romeo Cruz was honored for his year of leadership and welcomed incoming President Priscilla Lucero to the role. Romeo received a gavel plaque in recognition of his service, and the organization proudly presented annual service awards to Misty Pugmire and Dr. Sabrina Pack for their outstanding dedication to the Prospectors and the broader Grant County community. It was a meaningful moment of gratitude and momentum as we look forward to the work ahead.
