December is such a joyful month at giveDIGNITY, seeing the achievements those we walk with in love! One highlight this month has been seeing Marielos graduate with her 6th grade diploma. Marielos was a mom of a sponsored student when we first started the sponsorship program. She had a hard past and a complicated life with a lot of challenges.

She came to Bible studies and we learned that she couldn't read well. She was a student in our first adult literacy class, and then was inspired to go on to get her 6th grade diploma. We studied with her some to get her started, but then she moved out of the capital to the countryside to be nearer to family. We worried that her plans would be derailed with her relocation, but not so!

She found a center there where she could study, we've continued encouraging her from afar, and she just attained her dream, proudly sending me this video of her graduation ceremony.

You never know what big things each small thing is building!

What does your gift help our ministry accomplish in La Carpio?

$50-60 gives us teaching materials for a month, snacks for hungry ESL students for a month, or a tablet for our students to learn on

$300 gives us a day-long team-building retreat for our service or discipleship groups, or a Jobs for Life graduation ceremony

$500 is the value of a child sponsorship for the whole year, or a computer for ministry use

$1000 gives our local employees health insurance for a month

$3500 pays our local staff salaries for a month - these folks change lives ALL YEAR LONG and are our best investment!

$5000 gives a life-changing 3-day camp experience for our youth group

$10,000 is 1/6th of our budget for the second floor expansion

Last night, we celebrated as a staff with our 2025 graduating students (in the middle) and their families. Congratulations to Edwin, Erwin, Carlos, John, and Justin (and Sara, who couldn't come), for all their hard work over the years. We've walked with some of them since 2nd grade, and all have plans to go to college!

Defiant hope looks like a single mom pursuing education despite every barrier. It looks like a teen daring to dream beyond what his neighborhood tells him is possible. It looks like you— choosing to believe that God is at work even in hard places, and standing in solidarity with those who need it.
