Heads Up - Siesta Key traffic issue May 18-22: Northbound lane closure on Siesta Drive and full closure of La Paloma Ave at Siesta Dr to perform necessary repairs of their water infrastructure in this area. This is planned to be effective 24/7 on these days

Siesta Key residents asked for infrastructure improvements—traffic, flooding, safety.
Instead, the County’s staff is proposing a Siesta Key Master Plan focused on:
▪️ 'Beautification' (SK is already beautiful)
▪️ Possible new taxing district
▪️ A review of our Comprehensive Plan
There is not one reference to infrastructure in the scope of work.

Even more concerning—at no point did the County Commission request adding proposed changes to the Comprehensive Plan or zoning codes during public meetings. So why is that in this in Staff's plan?
This is not what residents asked for—and not what Siesta Key needs.
Our message to staff: Hands OFF our Comprehensive Plan.

Action Needed to Protect Neighborhood Parkland on Siesta Key!

Taxpayers approved the Neighborhood Parkland Program to protect open space — not give it away to developers.

On March 24, the Sarasota County Commission will vote on a proposed land swap that would give away a $1.4 million public parkland parcel on Siesta Key — land purchased with taxpayer dollars through the Neighborhood Parkland Program — in exchange for four unbuildable lots that have been underwater at times and are valued at only about $84,000.

Please email the County Commissioners and ask them to vote NO on the land swap. Send Email to [email protected]
