“Given the opportunity at their last meeting, none of our County Commissioners voiced any questions or concerns regarding our flag ceremony. The sheriff, with whom we confer in person and daily before, during, and after the ceremony, has had no problems, questions, or concerns, and hasn’t issued so much as a warning, much less a citation. We have posted, announce daily, and explicitly follow the governor’s executive order regarding public beaches, group size, and social distancing. The mistruths being spread by Mrs. Luckner, while disconcerting, are probably within her first amendment right to free speech. The mistruths being spread by Mr. Holderness are probably intended to deflect attention from the unlawful activities for which he has been cited twice in the last week.
