After careful consideration and extensive outreach, we regret to announce that Shippensburg's annual Drop the Anchor New Year's Eve celebration will not be held this year.
Over the past several months, efforts were made to identify an organization willing to assume leadership, planning, and coordination responsibilities for the event. Unfortunately, no organization or group was able to commit to taking on this significant undertaking.
Drop the Anchor has been a cherished community tradition made possible through the dedication of volunteers, sponsors, community partners, and countless hours of planning behind the scenes. We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the event's success throughout the years.
While we are disappointed that the celebration will not take place this year, we remain hopeful that a future organization or coalition of community members may choose to revive this tradition in the years ahead.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Drop the Anchor and helped make it a memorable part of celebrating the New Year in Shippensburg.
However, there is still time. If your organization, business, civic group, or coalition of community members is interested in taking over the planning and coordination of this event, we encourage you to reach out. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss what would be involved in keeping this community tradition alive.
Please contact us if you are interested in leading the future of Drop the Anchor.
