π Domestic Violence Awareness Month π My Story, My Strength, My Survival
For 20 years, I endured physical, mental, emotional, and financial abuse. Twenty years of pain, tears, broken promises, and battles that many people knew nothing about. I know what it's like to lose yourself while trying to hold everything together. I know what it's like to smile in public while silently suffering behind closed doors.
Domestic violence isn't always a black eye or a broken bone. Sometimes it's the constant manipulation, the controlling behavior, the financial struggles, the fear, and the emotional damage that nobody else can see.
For a long time, I was surviving instead of living. But one thing about me, I never completely lost the strength that was inside of me. It took time, courage, and a whole lot of healing, but I finally chose ME. π
I share my story not for sympathy, but because somebody somewhere needs to know that they are not alone. I understand why some people stay, because I stayed for 20 years. Leaving isn't always as simple as people think, and healing doesn't happen overnight.
Today, I am no longer defined by what I endured. I'm defined by the woman I fought to become. My past gave me a deeper understanding of compassion, resilience, and the importance of helping others find their own strength.
I didn't survive 20 years of abuse just to remain silent about what I overcame. My story may be the encouragement someone else needs to find their way out.
To anyone silently fighting a battle behind closed doors, please know that you deserve peace, respect, safety, and a love that doesn't hurt.
π I am not ashamed of my story. I am proud of my survival.
20 years of abuse did not get the final word. I DID. ππΎπ
