Gather with friends, family, and soccer fans from across the community for an exciting evening celebrating the World Cup and America’s birthday weekend. Enjoy two FIFA World Cup matches streamed live on a giant outdoor screen while taking part in food, games, music, and patriotic fun in the heart of downtown Sedalia!

Whether you’re cheering for your favorite team, grabbing dinner from a local food truck, or dressing up in your most patriotic red, white, and blue attire for our walking stroll between matches, there will be something for everyone to enjoy throughout the evening.

Sedalia Scavenger Hunt Answer for Location #4!📚

The Sedalia Public Library was constructed in 1900 and was the first public library in the state of Missouri to receive a Carnegie Grant. The grant was awarded in recognition of Sedalia’s growing reputation as the “Queen City of the Prairies” and its importance as an emerging railroad community.

Built in the Greek Revival style, the library features beautiful limestone detailing and antique oak woodwork throughout the interior. More than a century later, this historic landmark continues to stand as one of Downtown Sedalia’s most recognizable and treasured buildings.

The Rice Building, located at 701 S Ohio Avenue, was constructed in 1890 during a period of significant commercial growth and development in Sedalia. Over the years, it has been home to law offices and a variety of other businesses, serving as an important part of the downtown community.

Today, the Rice Building continues to showcase the historic charm and character that make Downtown Sedalia such a unique place to live, work, and visit.

Sedalia Scavenger Hunt Answer for Location #2!💰

The Union Savings Bank, located at 101 S Ohio Avenue, opened in June of 1913 and served as a state chartered commercial bank supervised by the FDIC. Constructed in the Classical Revival style, the building featured a functional bank layout designed to serve the growing financial needs of Sedalia during the city’s early 20th-century expansion.

As Sedalia continued to grow beyond its railroad roots into a thriving and diversified community, buildings like Union Savings Bank reflected that progress and development throughout downtown. In 2011, the bank was acquired by The Third National Bank of Sedalia and no longer operates independently.

Sedalia Scavenger Hunt Answer for Location #1!📍

The church building located at the corner of Osage Avenue and 6th Street was built in 1869 and originally served as the home of the First Congregational Church of Sedalia. Featuring beautiful Romanesque Revival architecture and a bell tower on the southeast corner, the building has remained a unique piece of Downtown Sedalia history for more than 150 years.

Over the years, the building has been home to multiple congregations and continues to stand as a historic landmark in our downtown district.

To celebrate, Sedalia Main Streets is partnering with Sedalia’s Historic Preservation Commission for a downtown scavenger hunt contest! Get ready to put your downtown knowledge to the test!

Here’s how it works:
Each round, we’ll post an up-close photo of a historic building somewhere in downtown Sedalia. Participants will have 24 hours to guess where the building is located by leaving a comment on the post.
