SFYC was founded in 1996 as a City of Seattle Human Services Department-operated program targeting at-risk Southeast Asian youth and families.

SafeFutures has supported young people for nearly 30 years, partnering with youth from low-income, immigrant, and refugee communities to navigate barriers related to education, justice system involvement, and access to opportunity. SFYC became a non-profit organization in June 1999, received IRS 501c3 status, and expanded its services to better serve the community, including East African, African American, Native American/Alaskan Native, Latino, Pacific Islander, and other populations. We are dedicated to helping youth and their families stay focused on their future by offering a variety of engaging programs and activities. We coordinate these daily services and activities so that young people may build the following: Positive self-identity and self-awareness; positive relationships and values to the community; positive individual and peer relationships, behaviors, & values; positive family interaction and communication skills; youth leadership and community service.
