🌍✨ Refugees & Immigrant Week – 5th Edition! ✨🌍

July 31st, 2025

Musenyi Movie Premier:

One of the highlights of our RAW events this year was the very first movie premiere of The Life of Refugees in the Village of Musenyi 🎬❀️. We watched this deeply moving film, shared tears and our personal refugee stories, and had the chance to ask our panelists meaningful questions πŸ™.

The experience didn’t stop there! We shared a traditional refugee meal, Mpuregure 🍲, and with drums, maracas, and our voices, we sang a powerful song that has uplifted and strengthened refugees through the horrors of war and displacement πŸŽΆπŸ’›. This song reminded us all of resilience, hope, and the power of community.

The event received incredible feedback, touching the hearts of everyone present 🌟. Stay tuned β€” we’ll soon share a video so you can experience the magic and emotion of this unforgettable day! πŸŽ₯πŸ’«

🌍✨ Celebrating Immigrant and Refugees Week: 5th Edition! ✨🌍

July 30th, 2025

The Parenting Talks:
A safe and supportive space for refugee and immigrant parents to come together, share experiences, and discuss the challenges of raising children for the first time in the U.S. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŒ

As we wrap up the 5th edition of our Immigrant and Refugees Week, we reflect on the challenges faced, but more importantly, the successes we achieved together! πŸŽ‰ Our Early Learning Department brought together parents of 18 mo to age 4 to engage in meaningful discussions about parenting in the USA. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ€

Navigating parenting in a new country comes with its own set of challenges, from understanding cultural differences to accessing resources tailored to our community. This week has provided invaluable insights, supportive conversations, and the chance to share experiences that highlight our diverse backgrounds. πŸŒˆπŸ—£οΈ

Together, we explored essential topics like early childhood development, educational opportunities, and the importance of cultural identity. Our sessions offered not just practical advice but a sense of communityβ€”a reminder that we are not alone in this journey. πŸ€—πŸ’–

The benefits of these conversations extend beyond just parenting. We focused on mental health support, emphasizing the importance of cultural sensitivity in accessing mental health resources and the challenges many families face. 🌱πŸ’ͺ

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this week a success! Your engagement fosters understanding, empowerment, and resilience within our community. πŸ’ͺ✨ Let's continue to support one another and thrive together!

🌟 We are thrilled to share a glimpse of our Healing Circle event during Refugees and Immigrants Week! 🌍✨ For the past 4 years, we have been hosting these special gatherings, and every year, the experience grows more meaningful. This year’s Healing Circle was no exception. 🫢

Our RIW Healing Circles create a golden opportunity for parents and youth to come together in a shared space, rather than having separate sessions. It’s a chance for group healing through open conversations, activities, and mutual support. Families, especially parents and children, engaged in meaningful moments that helped strengthen bonds, foster understanding, and celebrate resilience. πŸ’ͺπŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦

This year's session was led by our incredible mental health certified counselor, who helped guide us through a journey of sharing personal strengths, challenges, and stories that empower us. πŸ’¬β€οΈ The beautiful lamp you see in the picture was our Talking Peace, passed around as a symbol of light and unity. It reminded us of many cherished moments from back home, sparking joy, nostalgia, and hope for the future. πŸ•―οΈπŸŒΈ

In addition, we shared a beautiful song, enjoyed cultural food, and participated in group activities that helped us visualize and celebrate our collective strength. 🎢🍲🀲 Through these moments, we connected on a deeper level, reinforcing our community's resilience and ability to uplift one another.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to King County MIDD for partnering with us and making this year’s Healing Circle possible. Your support continues to help us foster healing, community, and hope. πŸ™πŸ½πŸ’™

The Healing Circle serves as a reminder that, even far from home, we can build community, find healing, and strengthen one another. To everyone who attended and supported this year’s Healing Circle – thank you for making it a powerful and transformative experience. πŸ’›βœ¨

Stay tuned for more updates from Refugees and Immigrants Week and how we continue building stronger, healthier communities. 🌟
