Congratulations to YGC alum Lydia Wolf! We love to see former members continuing to serve the community! Lydia was a board member for YGC and graduated Scottsburg High School in 2024.

Welcome Lydia, our summer marketing intern!

Lydia is going into her senior year at Hanover College. She is majoring in Business with a concentration in Marketing and a minor in Communications. She is a member of the Chi Omega Sorority serving as the Executive Secretary, a Business Advisory Committee member serving as Executive President, a member of Delight Women’s Bible study serving as Co-Community Service Chair, and a member of Mortar Board National Honors Society.

“Through my school's internship program, I was able to discover Habitat for Humanity's marketing internship opportunity. Having grown up working with nonprofits, I knew this would be the perfect opportunity to combine something I am passionate about with the chance to gain hands-on experience and develop my marketing skills. I am excited to learn new skills this summer, from working with new technologies to strengthening the interpersonal and professional skills that are essential in the workplace. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to an organization that makes a positive impact in the community while also growing both personally and professionally along the way.

Outside of school and work, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, being outdoors, reading, crafting, shopping, and finding new ways to stay involved in my community. I also enjoy staying active and taking advantage of opportunities to connect with others and build meaningful relationships. Whether I'm exploring nature, trying something new, or simply spending time with the people I care about most, I value experiences that allow me to learn, grow, and make lasting memories.”

Thank you to Austin Elementary School for welcoming us back this week! We met with 5th graders to talk about grantmaking. The 4th graders raised $325 this past week with their M&M fundraising challenge to give to the 5th graders to use for grants. The 5th graders evaluated four applications submitted by teachers at AES, totaling $700. The students discussed whether to fund the top 2 or partially fund all 4. YGC board members surprised the students by announcing we would give them the difference to fund all 4 applications!

Congratulations to these teachers for their projects: Susie Begley, $158.32 for “Word Building Folders,” Michelle Smith, $144.41 for outdoor recess toys, Tammy Treadway, $194.20 for classroom books, and the TAG Leadership Team, $200 for “Brag Tags” attendance incentive program.
