American Friends of Soroka Medical Center supports Soroka Medical Center, the sole major medical center for the entire south of Israel, saving lives in the Negev and worldwide.

🩷Inspired by her own experience with breast cancer, Soroka midwife Sagit Asher helped establish a support group for employees who have faced the disease, creating a safe space to share experiences, find strength, and support one another.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we celebrate the power of community and remind everyone of the importance of regular screenings and early detection. 💗

🏆More than 100 Soroka Medical Center employees participated in the Sportiada in Eilat, Israel’s largest sporting event for employees, bringing home impressive achievements!

🥇 77 swimming medals: 42 gold, 18 silver, and 17 bronze
🚴 1st place in mountain biking
⚽ 2nd place in futsal

Beyond the medals, the event celebrated teamwork, determination, and the incredible spirit of Soroka.

During Sagui Dekel-Chen’s 498 days in captivity, Chen Klein, a movement therapist at Soroka and longtime family friend, supported Avital, Saguis wife, and their daughters through weekly visits and was by Avital’s side when she gave birth.

Recently, Avital shared her family’s story with nearly 200 Soroka healthcare professionals, highlighting the extraordinary compassion that extends far beyond the hospital walls. 💙

On October 7, 2023, Soroka Medical Center treated nearly 680 casualties in just 24 hours, many arriving with devastating, life-threatening injuries.

Among the medical teams working tirelessly to save lives were Prof. Zvi Perry and Dr. Abd Abu Ganim, two Soroka surgeons who worked side by side to provide lifesaving care to critically injured patients.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Noa Tishby for honoring these remarkable physicians and sharing Soroka’s story with the world. 💙🇮🇱

On October 7, 2023, Soroka Medical Center stood at the epicenter of the most devastating day in Israel’s history, treating nearly 680 casualties in the first 24 hours. Three years later, the stories of those who saved lives and those still healing remain at the heart of our mission.

This October 7, joined and community partners in Los Angeles for the United in Memory & Resilience Memorial, gathering more than 1,800 people in remembrance and solidarity.

We were honored to welcome Noa Tishby, an unwavering advocate for Israel and to share the stories of Maya Regev, a Nova survivor held hostage in Gaza for 54 days, and Prof. Zvi Perry and Dr. Abd Abu Ganim, Soroka surgeons who saved lives and treated the wounded on October 7.

Three years ago, October 7 became one of the most devastating days in Israel’s history, creating a national emergency on an unprecedented scale.

At Soroka, at the epicenter of the medical response, doctors, nurses and staff faced an unimaginable numbers of wounded arriving one after another from the earliest hours.

Through it all, they continued to care, respond and save lives.

Three years later, we honor the extraordinary people behind those first hours, their courage, dedication and humanity, and the strength that carried Soroka through that day and the years that followed. 💙

🫁 For nearly two years, a teenager from southern Israel suffered from a persistent cough until Soroka doctors uncovered the unexpected cause: a glue-container cap lodged deep in his airway.

After more than an hour of delicate work, Soroka’s multidisciplinary team successfully removed the object, helping the young patient breathe easier and return to every day life. 💙💚
