We are thrilled to introduce Grammy Award-winning producer, engineer, and editor Richard Price as a finals judge for the upcoming 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐪𝐮𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧! 🎻 This event is a collaboration between 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐬 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 and the 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐬 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐪𝐮𝐞 𝐎𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚. 🤝✨

𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞 has over 1,000 commercial CDs to his credit. He recently retired as president of Candlewood Digital, called "one of the most respected classical recording firms in the industry." An alumnus of Juilliard and the University of Michigan, his work spans elite production, performance, and arranging.

Highlights of his legendary career include:
• 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: Earned three Grammy nominations and one Grammy award. He has produced major projects for the London Philharmonic, Arianna String Quartet, and The Vivaldi Project.

• 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐲: Digitally remastered extensive classical archives for EMI Classics, including historic recordings of Pavarotti, Callas, Perlman, and the 1902 Enrico Caruso sessions.

• 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 & 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: Had a 15-year career as a professional horn player in New York and served as Music Director of the Danbury Concert Chorus, becoming their first Music Director Emeritus.

• 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝-𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐀𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫: His arrangements are performed globally by major ensembles like the Canadian Brass and the Dallas, Detroit, and Seattle Symphonies, and featured in television and film.We are deeply honored to welcome him back for his second time serving as one of our five finals judges! 🌟

Concert Composer Highlight: André J. Thomas (b. 1952) has distinguished himself as a significant composer, conductor, and author, with a body of work that often explores community and the expressive power of the human voice. His setting of I Hear America Singing, inspired by the poetry of Walt Whitman, celebrates the voices of everyday people, each contributing to a broader national identity. Thomas expands this idea by incorporating elements of the spiritual Walk Together, Children, bringing multiple traditions into a single musical statement. Reflecting on the piece, Thomas described transforming “the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood,” a sentiment that is realized through the music’s progression toward connection and collective strength. Howard Hanson (1896–1981) was an American composer, conductor, and educator whose work played a central role in shaping a distinctly American musical voice. Composed in 1957, Song of Democracy sets a nineteenth century text by Walt Whitman that looks not to the past, but to those who will define what the nation becomes. The text presents democracy as something unfinished, placing responsibility on future generations to shape its meaning and direction. Composed in 1949 for the bicentennial of Washington and Lee University, The Last Words of David sets a passage from 2 Samuel that reflects on leadership, justice, and the responsibility of those in power.
