West Carroll FFA kicked off the school year with an awesome night at the Section 1 Meet & Greet, joining more than 180 FFA members from across the area for an evening packed with fun, teamwork, and new friendships. Our members jumped right into co****le, and plenty of ice‑breaker games that had everyone laughing and connecting.

Events like this set the tone for a strong year ahead — giving students the chance to build confidence, meet fellow leaders, and feel the excitement of being part of something bigger. What a fantastic way to start the school year and represent West Carroll with pride.

Learning by doing in action!

Today, our FFA test plot was sprayed using drone technology, giving students a firsthand look at the future of agriculture. Experiences like these allow our students to connect classroom concepts with real-world applications and careers.

A huge thank you to AgView for donating more than $5,500 to support our test plot project and to Erbsen Ag Service for spraying the plot and spending time with our classes today sharing about the agriculture industry and his business.

These partnerships make hands-on learning opportunities possible and help prepare the next generation of agricultural leaders.

We're looking for students to help fill our JV Trap Team this season. Practices begin at 5:15 PM at Mississippi Flyway in Thomson.

Never shot trap before? That's okay! No experience is necessary. We welcome beginners and will help you learn the fundamentals.

West Carroll FFA is proud to recognize our four State FFA Degree recipients, the highest honor the Illinois FFA can award. Earning this degree reflects years of dedication, supervised agricultural experience growth, leadership, and service to our chapter and community. These students have set a standard of excellence that will inspire future members for years to come.

Three of our recipients traveled to Springfield with their families to be recognized on stage at the Illinois State FFA Convention. They spent the week celebrating their accomplishments, connecting with members from across the state, and reflecting on the impact FFA has had on their lives. Sharing this milestone with their families made the experience even more meaningful.

As all four of these outstanding young people have now graduated, we already feel the space they’re leaving behind. Their leadership, work ethic, and kindness shaped our chapter in countless ways. While we will miss them deeply, we are excited to see where their next steps lead — and we know they will continue to make West Carroll proud.

West Carroll FFA had an unforgettable week in Springfield as our state delegates and chapter members represented us at the Illinois State FFA Convention. This group jumped into every opportunity — from delegate sessions to chapter activities — and made the most of their time at the state level.

They took part in FFA trivia, chapter bowling night, team‑building challenges, and even navigated a midnight tornado warning that sent everyone to the hotel’s lower level. Through it all, they showed teamwork, flexibility, and leadership.

During convention sessions, our delegates listened to keynote speakers, heard powerful retiring addresses, and worked together to plan ideas for next year’s chapter activities. They gained skills in communication, decision‑making, and representing West Carroll at the state level.

A highlight of the trip was touring the Illinois State Capitol — including the historic underground tunnels — and visiting the offices of our state senator and state representative. Students learned how agriculture education connects to government, policy, and leadership across the state.

We are proud of this group for stepping up, learning, growing, and representing West Carroll with maturity and enthusiasm. Experiences like these shape future leaders, and this crew made the most of every moment.

West Carroll FFA was proudly represented by three incredibly talented young women who were selected for the Illinois State FFA Chorus in Springfield this June. Their selection speaks volumes — not only about their musical ability, but also about their dedication, leadership, and willingness to step into a statewide spotlight.

Being part of the State FFA Chorus is far more than just singing. These students spent days rehearsing challenging harmonies, learning performance choreography, and preparing music that would be showcased in front of thousands of FFA members, advisors, and families. They worked with professional directors, collaborated with students from across Illinois, and learned how to blend their voices into a polished, unified ensemble.

Their duties included early‑morning rehearsals, multiple stage performances, mastering complex musical arrangements, and representing West Carroll with professionalism and pride. They also gained skills in teamwork, confidence, stage presence, and communication — experiences they’ll carry with them long after the final note.

We are so proud of these young women for sharing their gifts, representing our chapter with excellence, and bringing the spirit of West Carroll to the state stage.
