A Bible verse & Prayer for the week of September 7 & 8:

“Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has He in anger withheld His compassion? Then I thought, "To this I will appeal: the years when the Most High stretched out His right hand. I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember Your miracles of long ago. I will consider all Your works and meditate on all Your mighty deeds." — Psalm 77:9–12, NIV

“Lord God, our Father in heaven, we turn to You in these times when we are under so much stress and temptation.

Let Your light glow in our hearts to give us firmness, patience, and perseverance throughout the time of testing, no matter how long it lasts. Your hand can change everything.

Your hand can shorten the time we must wait until Your light shines out of the darkness of death and evil, until Your light reveals Your life to Your children and to the whole world.

You are our God and Father as You have promised, and remaining at Your side, we look to You in faith and trust.

You will bring about goodness, justice, and mercy as You have promised, and so fulfill your will. Amen.”

A Bible verse & Prayer for the week of July 27 & 28:

I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.
— John 10:16, NIV

Lord our God, bring us together as one. Give us Your Spirit so that we may know You, so that joy may fill our hearts, not only for ourselves but also for others.

Root out evil from the earth. Sweep away all that offends You, all lying, deceit, and hate between nations.

Grant that all people may come to know You, so that disunity and conflict may be swept away and Your eternal kingdom may arise on earth and we may rejoice in it.

For Your kingdom can come to people even while on earth to bring them happiness and to make them Your own children.

Yes, Lord God, we want to be Your children, Your people, held in Your hand, so that Your name may be honored, Your kingdom may come, and Your will be done on earth as in heaven.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Bible verse & Prayer for the week of July 20th:

“They will be my people, and I will be their God. I will give them singleness of heart and action, so that they will always fear Me and that all will then go well for them and for their children after them.”

— Jeremiah 32:38–39, NIV

Lord our God, You want to be our God and You want us to be Your people.

Give us the inner integrity and the power to discern and reject what does not come from the heart, so that everything may be genuine among us.

Then no lies and deception will creep in, and honesty and goodness will flow from our hearts to the glory of truth, to the glory of the gospel and the great hope You give us through the gospel.

Guard our hearts. Protect the good that is planted in them, that it may grow and thrive and bear fruit.

Amen.

A Prayer for the week of July 6 & 7:

Challenging God, You send us out
like lambs among wolves,
then ask us to be peaceful and gentle.
Help us hear and obey Your call to follow Jesus,
even if we must surrender our reputations
and rules we hold dear.
May we learn and live the path of the cross,
restoring one another
and bearing one another’s burdens,
as we discover Your gift
of becoming new creations in Christ.
Amen.

A Prayer for the week of June 22:

Lord our God, in the name of Jesus Christ, who is close at our side as the risen and living One, we lift our eyes to You in prayer.

Bless us. Bless us through Your Word and let our hearts become quiet in You.

Free us from all restlessness and from the turmoil of the present age, for we belong to You, not to the world. We want to find peace in You and remain in You.

You will care for us as Your children, whom You will never forget in all eternity. Bless us and renew the riches of Your grace in us every day, for You, O Lord our God, remain our Father. Amen.

A Prayer for the week of June 15:

Dear Father in heaven, we thank You for guiding us, Your children, here on earth. We thank You that whatever happens to us, we can again and again find joy because You give us what is good even when times are evil and when we go through sorrow.

We thank You that Your goodness and Your faithfulness pe*****te everything, and that at last, at long last, they pe*****te our hearts. Then we can know and be glad that Your Spirit guides us.

We can know we are never alone but can receive strength to help us in the struggle and toil of our life. Through Your help everything becomes fruitful – good and evil, life and death, health and suffering.

Everything must serve You through the working of Your Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Prayer for the week of June 8:

Prayer for Guidance and Peace

Gracious God, thank you for the gift of today. As I step into this new morning, I ask for your wisdom to guide my words, my actions, and every situation I encounter.

When my day goes well, may I rejoice, and when challenges arise, grant me the strength to persevere. Attune my heart to your peace, and help me to see the simple joys in the ordinary moments.

May my living today reveal your goodness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Bible verse and Prayer for the week of June 1:

For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.
— John 6:33, NIV

Dear Father in heaven, in Your Word we trust, in Your Word of eternal life, given us in Jesus Christ our Savior.

We build on this Word of life in these days when it seems that everything is losing strength and value, and yet there is so much longing in people’s hearts. You will not let our hope be disappointed.

What you have spoken must be fulfilled. What is promised in Jesus Christ must come into being, not only for a few but for the whole world, for which he died and was raised from the dead.

Be with us. Keep us so fully alive that our lives reflect all the goodness we are allowed to experience and we overcome all the evil which tries to attack us.

We thank you for calling us to life and for renewing us again and again. May your name be praised among us forever. Amen.

A Bible verse and Prayer for the week of May 18:

“And by Him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs – heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory.”
— Romans 8:15b–17, NIV

“Lord our God, Father of us all, grant that we may know something of You in our hearts. Each one of us is different, with his own particular needs, but we are all Your children and should all become children of Your Spirit.

Then even in the difficulties of life, in the many struggles, temptations, and sorrows, we can keep up our courage and remain in the Spirit, who is victorious in every aspect of life. Protect and strengthen us on all our ways.

We praise You for all You have done and for all the help You have given us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

A Bible verse and Prayer for the week of May 4:

And He said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” — Exodus 33:14, RSV

Dear Father in heaven, we thank You for guiding us on all our ways with power from on high. We thank You that again and again You have led us through the darkness on a path of light. Looking back, we cannot be thankful enough.

May our hearts turn to You and be filled with quiet certainty in all we are still awaiting. Remember us and remember the many who lie under heavy bo***ge. Let the time come when You will bring a great deliverance to those who are in darkness.

Then we can find meaning for our lives in all that happens, knowing that You have been faithful in everything. You have done more than we asked, more than we can understand. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
