JOB DESCRIPTION:
- A Direct Support Professional is partnered with children with severe behaviors
- Provide mentoring and communications to those supported
- Provide a FRIENDLY and PROFESSIONAL atmosphere for ALL!!!
- Supervises and assist as needed during meal preparation, housekeeping responsibilities, personal hygiene, grooming and other activities as needed. Staff must be in residence during all meal preparation.
- Maintain clinical records as designated by policies and procedures such as, but not limited to; documentation of assigned training, physical observation, significant observation notes, documentation on MARS and other documents, and any behavioral management programs.
- Provide input to individual program planning for assigned residents. Train/instruct residents in areas in individual program plan under the training system established by the treatment team.
- Provide transportation for residents as required.
- Supervise residents in recreational activities both at residence and in community.
- Be responsible during evening hours to contact APPROPRIATE administrative staff in case of an emergency.
- Make written reports of significant incidents occurring during shift.
- Serve as an informal advocate for residents and provide individual supervision during home management.
- Correct unacceptable behavior and implement Behavior Support Plan.
- MAC workers administer resident medications per MARS.
- Provide first-aid assistance to all residents and assist in the follow-through of medical needs
- Assist in maintaining necessary supplies for individual needs, i.e. grooming supplies, household cleaning supplies, and items needed for staff to perform job duties.
- Assist in general upkeep and repair of facility such as, but not limited to: keeping inside/outside of vehicles clean and ensure sufficient gasoline level for next usage, cleaning facility grounds and/or buildings, pursuing possible outside resources for resolving noted problem areas.
- Reports suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, and mistreatment to immediate supervisor, and Quality Enhancement Coordinator immediately (WITHIN ONE HOUR OF OCCURRENCE!!!!).
- May require performing physical restraints to combative youths.
- In addition to above noted task and responsibilities, other related duties may be assigned from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a high school graduate with your diploma or GED
Must have a valid Driver's License
Must successfully pass a drug screen
Must successfully pass an FBI and ABI background check?

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide mentoring and communications to those supported.

• Coordinates, plans, reschedule and follow-up on all recipient’s appointments, mediations, department presentations, training, and related functions.
• Provides employees with employee assistance program service information and provides relevant referral information on community resources.
• Maintains and updates confidential files and records, ensuring that ethical, legal and departmental standards are maintained.
• Maintains staff calendars, prepares reports and/or minutes, composes correspondence, and coordinates the processing of related documents.
• Transport recipients to and from necessary appointments, meetings, work, etc.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned, inclusive of taking recipients to the doctor.
• Complete monthly reports and forms.
• Communicate with case managers and supervisor concerning needs, wants and concerns from recipients and employees.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
AT LEAST a 4 year degree from an ACCREDITED college or university with at least 1 year experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Records maintenance skills.
Organizing and coordinating skills.
Knowledge of community health services and agencies.
Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
Assessment and referral skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Knowledge of basic office management and administration principles and procedures.
Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.

The Director will oversee all operations of the program including educational opportunities available to residents and linkage with vocational rehabilitation as appropriate. The duties of the administrator shall include, but are limited to the following:
• Maintain all personnel files for EACH employee including self.
• Maintain knowledge of the licensing standards, operating policies and personnel policies.
• Direct, evaluate, and articulate a program of child care within the limits of function and policy established by the board.
• Make regular reports to the board on all phases of the operation of the child care facility and its program.
• Make regular reports to the Department in accordance with requirements by the Department.
• Prepare the annual budget, and handle expenditures according to budget allocations.
• Organize the work of the child care facility and delegate responsibility to various staff members, as appropriate, including the appointing, evaluating and termination of staff.
• Make provision for continuity of administrative authority in his/her own absence.
• Assess the total operation of the child care facility and its program annually, report to the board the successes, barriers, strengths and needs, and make appropriate recommendations.
• The executive shall not be assigned, nor assume, any primary responsibility for fund-raising or other activities that necessitate extended absences from the child care facility or which interferes with his/her administrative responsibilities in conducting the child care facility program, unless another full-time staff member is assigned responsibility and authority for the day-to-day operation of the child care facility.
• Direct and evaluate a program of residential care for recipients under the supervision of the Alabama State Department of Human Resources
• Plan and direct the professional administration of the program and delegate responsibility to staff as appropriate.
• Recruit, appoint, evaluate and terminate staff consistent with sound personnel practices.
• Develop a plan for orientation, development and training of all staff.
• Make sure all incident reports are completed and reported to the appropriate departments. Assure that said incidents are documented in LEAPs Incident Prevention and Management System.
• Address and create a plan of action for implementation.
• Interpret program to interested recipients and groups.
• Conduct regular staff meetings regarding policies and Procedures; problem solving methods and facility updates.
• Communicate with case management agency and the County DHR office concerning any additional services needed for any consumers.
• Meet with contractors as needed to discuss concerns.
• Coordinate and ensure completion of LEAPs’ Quality Enhancement Plan.
• Participate in all committee meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS
• A baccalaureate degree in the field of social work, psychology, administration, or a related field, from a college or university accredited by one of the six regional accrediting associations of the United States.
• A minimum of 24 months’ successful full-time, paid employment in family and children’s services, including progressively responsible administrative and/or supervisory experience.
