Thanks to our friends at for joining us for a Day of Service! Our crew of Lionshares volunteers tackled projects to help improve our YMCA, preparing our garden beds for new drought-tolerant landscaping and painting the parking garage!

Volunteerism is at the core of what we’re about at the YMCA - neighbors coming together to improve the community in spirit, mind, and body. Thanks to our volunteers for all their hard work!

Are you ready to jump into summer? Make sure your family is ready to enjoy the water safely, whether you’re visiting the beach, the pool, or the lake!

During , we’re sharing tips and resources to help keep kids and families safe while enjoying the water. Here’s 6 quick guidelines to keep your kiddos safe!

1. Always ask first! 🙋‍♀️ make sure your children practice asking before getting in the water.

2. Never swim alone! 👯 there should always be a responsible, distraction-free adult present and monitoring the water when kids are swimming.

3. Keep children within arm’s reach of an adult! 💪 stay close anytime young children are the water.

4. Skip breath-holding games! 😮‍💨 holding your breath for long times can be dangerous, even when it’s just a game. Swap out breath-holding for another fun game while swimming.

5. Use lifejackets! 🤿 anyone who isn’t a strong swimmer should always put on a properly-fitted Coast Guard approved life jacket before entering the water.

6. Reach or throw, don’t go! 🛟 if someone is in trouble in deep water, kids should know not to jump in after them. Instead use the “Reach, Throw, Don’t Go” rule by using a long object or floatation device to reach or help them. Always call for help right away!

The YMCA is closed for Memorial Day, regular hours will resume on Tuesday.

May is Older Americans Month and we are thrilled to highlight our Active Older Adult Community! The AOA group is a thriving part of our YMCA, filled with vibrant personalities who are staying active and engaged together.

During we are thinking about what prevention, wellness, and connection mean when it comes to healthy aging - and at the YMCA, we are here to support all those cornerstones. In Spirit, Mind, and Body wellness is built best in community with others. Come check out our AOA programs at the Y!
