Community Partners In Caring

Community Partners In Caring We serve Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties This allows our older seniors to realistically age in place.

Established in 1997, Community Partners in Caring is a Volunteer organization that recruits, screens, trains, and matches volunteers with clients 62+ and 18+ with disabilities with little to no support. Our mission is to provide volunteer support services that allow our senior population to live independently while maintaining dignity, respect, and quality of life. The seniors we serve reside in

the North Santa Barbara County area, lack the support network as well as the financial means to get the help they need. Our services include: free of charge door-through-door local transportation to health related appointments as well as the grocery store; friendly visits, help with yard work, and reassurance phone calls (to check in on those who live alone). We are building up other services: minor home repairs, respite care, help with paperwork and help with light house cleaning. We've recently implemented an intergenerational volunteer program that brings youth and the elderly together in mutually meaningful activities, such as youth teaching seniors how to reconnect/stay connected with loved ones through video chat and other social media apps. At Community Partners in Caring, WE LIVE the word "CARING," not only in the way we serve our seniors, but in the way we appreciate our volunteers, treat our staff/board members, partner agencies, and the public. We invite you to live the word "caring" through us by supporting our work.

An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect through Friday for parts of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties. Older adults can be especially vulnerable, so please take extra care: stay in a cool place, dress lightly, limit time outdoors during peak heat, and check in on friends, family members, and neighbors.

This Wellness Wednesday, take a few minutes to look around your space: clear walkways, improve lighting, secure loose rugs, and keep frequently used items within easy reach.

Fall prevention is an important part of healthy aging, independence, and safety for older adults. Save this Reel as a home-safety reminder—and share it with someone you love.

What is one simple change that has made your home feel safer?

Today is National Nonprofit Day.

Independence can look like something as simple as a trip to the grocery store. But for many older adults, reliable transportation is what makes those everyday moments possible.

Your support helps Community Partners in Caring connect seniors with the rides and resources that support independence, dignity, and community connection.

Make a gift or sign up to volunteer today at partnersincaring.org

National Nonprofit Day was founded by Sherita J. Herring, the day honors charitable organizations, volunteers, and staff, and marks the enactment of the Tariff Act of 1894 that first granted federal income tax exemptions to corporations and charitable institutions

Today is National Social Security Day — a good reminder to protect your personal information. It marks the anniversary of the Social Security Act, which President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed into law on August 14, 1935.

Scammers may pretend to be from Social Security, but the Social Security Administration will not threaten you, demand immediate payment, or ask you to pay with gift cards, cryptocurrency, or wire transfers. When in doubt, pause, verify, and talk to someone you trust.

Our Executive Director Hilda Zacarias and our Santa Barbara
Community Outreach and Special Initiatives Manager Joanne Deck had the chance to talk about what we do on a TV show called 805 Focus. Thank you Dr. Cynder Sinclair for letting us highlight what our mission is and what we do to accomplish it. You can watch the full episode here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdNaNOK8cz8
