This Juneteenth, SIV celebrates & honors a true trailblazer:
Madam C.J. Walker.
She is officially recorded by the Guinness Book of World Records as America’s first female self-made millionaire.
But her true legacy aligns deeply with our Soroptimist mission she didn’t just build a hair care empire; she established education and training networks that empowered over 20,000 Black women to gain financial independence and control their own destinies. 👑
Today, we honor the resilience of Black women entrepreneurs past and present, and recommit ourselves to fostering a world where every woman and girl has the resources to reach her full potential.

Happy Juneteenth! 🎉

Today, we join hands in celebrating freedom, resilience, and the enduring spirit of our African American community.

Juneteenth marks the historic moment in 1865 when the last enslaved people in the United States learned of their
emancipation, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
At Soroptimist International of Valencia, we are committed to promoting equity, justice, and the uplifting of all women and girls. On this day, we honor the rich cultural heritage and significant contributions of African Americans throughout history.

Tonight we celebrated a special evening of leadership, service, and gratitude at Soroptimist International of Valencia. 💙

We honored President Cheri Bradford as she concluded her term leading our club. Cheri led with inclusivity, heart, humor, and a genuine commitment to making every member feel valued. From meaningful service projects to memorable meetings (and reminding us that sometimes a good book makes the best date 📚😉), she brought warmth, wisdom, and joy to our organization.

We also recognized Stephanie Sewell and Lisa West as they attended their final meeting with SI Valencia before embarking on an exciting new journey to help establish a new Soroptimist chapter. We are deeply grateful for their years of dedication, hard work, leadership, and service. Their contributions have helped shape SI Valencia and create a lasting impact on our club and the women and girls we serve.

Thank you, Cheri, Stephanie, and Lisa, for your commitment, passion, and countless hours of service. As one chapter closes and another begins, we celebrate your legacy and look forward to the continued impact you will make.

In May of 1921, the vision that would become Soroptimist International began to take shape. 💙

What started as a gathering of business and professional women determined to create opportunities, support one another, and uplift their communities has grown into a global movement empowering women and girls around the world. 🌍

From advocating for education and economic empowerment to supporting women through scholarships, mentorship, and community service, Soroptimists have spent more than a century creating lasting impact.

At Soroptimist International of Valencia, we are proud to continue that legacy right here in our own community. Proving that when women come together with purpose, incredible things happen. ✨
