Santa Ana Police Officers Association

To promote a safe and secure community through professional law enforcement stewardship, education, engagement, and partnership. Founded in 1948, the Santa Ana Police Officers Association (SAPOA) has evolved from a social gathering space into a full-service labor association dedicated to advocating for the rights and welfare of over 500 members. Originally es

tablished as the Santa Ana Police Benevolent Association, our mission has grown to negotiate wages, benefits, and work conditions, ensuring a positive impact on our members' professional lives. SAPOA remains deeply committed to the community of Santa Ana, hosting social and charitable events such as our annual golf tournament and variety show, supporting our Widows and Orphans fund. As part of our community commitment, we provide annual scholarships to local students facing economic hardships and sponsor numerous local programs promoting safety and public welfare. Our affiliations include the California Coalition of Law Enforcement (C.C.L.E.A.), Southern California Alliance of Law Enforcement (S.C.A.L.E.), and the California Peace Officers’ Memorial Foundation (C.P.O.M.F.), among others. SAPOA continues to be a beacon for law enforcement professionals and a pillar in the Santa Ana community.

Today, several of our board members took part in the Law Enforcement Special Olympics Torch Run. Our members ran 3 miles from the border between Santa Ana and Tustin to the Station. The torch was then passed on to OC District Attorney Investigations. It was an honor to take part in this event. The best part was having three recent grads join us in the run.

All gave some and some gave all. On this Memorial Day we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and for our freedom. Today at the 3rd Annual Memorial Park Flag Raising, we remembered Santa Ana resident Jose Luis Elizarraras, who grew up in Delhi, joined the Marines after graduating from Century High School and gave his life for this country in May 10, 1996. Thank you for bringing this solemn event back and thank you to all who attended. A special thank you to Chief Robert Rodriguez for your special words and our Honor Guard for raising the flag to honor Jose Luis and all those who gave their lives for this country.

Last night, , and Benjamin Vazquez(he will not let us tag him), express support for completely doing away with .paal, an amazing program for our youth. For all they talk about investing in youth, they want to take this program away and put it towards their little pet projects. That is not what a budget cut is, a budget cut is taking away a program and replacing it with nothing. But they want to use your taxpayer money to support their billionaire funded nonprofits to brainwash the youth. The community has expressed support for this program and we must stand against their public safety hating agenda!

Yesterday was a solemn day as we joined law enforcement from throughout the state to honor those who gave their lives in the line of duty last year. 2025 was a difficult year for law enforcement. A dozen people gave their lives and they are a testament to the dangers police officers face every day. Even more emotional is the toll it takes on the families of police officers. Small children who will never know one of their parents or losing them at a time when they are still growing up. This ceremony is to let them know their loved ones will never be forgotten and that they will always have a family with those in law-enforcement.

Our honor guard was once again present to es**rt the families of the fallen and we were joined by Chief Robert Rodriguez. Today, we joined and for the Festival Del Nino Resource Fair at George Upton All Access Park. Many families came to seek resources, get free toys, and mingle with police officers, and learn about what they do. We had our motor team, , are mounted police, and even our canine officers. Great time was had by all and it is so great to see the community wanting to interact with our police department and we love seeing the excitement from children when they learn about the exciting things police do every day.

Today and the Community Engagement Team held Donuts with a Dispatcher at Coffee in honor of Dispatcher Appreciation Week. Several of our dispatchers were on hand to educate the community on when to call 911 and went to call the nonemergency line. Some of the kids who came by got to get a tour of police vehicles. The Santa Ana Police Officers Association is proud to represent our hard-working dispatchers, who are the first people those calling in need of help speak to. We truly appreciate your dedication to the job!
