Happy Flag Day!

From the Continental Congress’s official adoption of our first national flag on June 14, 1777, to our current 50-Star Flag adopted in 1949, America has proudly witnessed the evolution of our nation’s greatest symbol.

Since then, America has had 9 flags, and if we count the ones we had during the colonies, the total number of American Flags ascends to 14!

OP-ED: The Strategic Necessity of Southern European U.S. Bases

Kevin Burns
Technical Advisor, The American Legion Aerospace Commission

The US President has threatened to pull U.S. troops out of Italy and Spain in his disagreements with European leaders. This would greatly diminish U.S. airpower throughout the western hemisphere of the world, and would gain nothing for the taxpayers of the United States.

Ready to celebrate America's 250th Birthday?

As we approach the United States Semiquincentennial, we share the final installment of a four-part video series inspired and presented by PDC Autrey James. This celebratory project was cut short due to Autrey's cancer diagnosis and subsequent passing.

We encourage Posts, Chapters, Squadrons, and Units to be part of the story of America from your community's perspective: share your plans by commenting below, showcase your events and city monuments through photos or short descriptions, and highlight the impact you’re making in your local communities in this thread.

Whether you’re hosting a ceremony, mentoring youth, or preserving a piece of history, your efforts contribute to a national tapestry of service and pride.

Learn more at America250.org, and share your plans in this thread. Let’s inspire a nation together; one story, one act of service, one celebration at a time.

God Bless America. 🇺🇸
