This week’s storm left a very visible mark on our nature park.

After nearly two inches of rain fell in a short period of time, areas of the park experienced significant erosion, changes along the creek bed, displaced debris, and new channels where water rushed through the landscape.

These photos were taken by Diana VanUitert and a friend while hiking through the park, and they give us a remarkable look at just how much can change after one powerful storm.

If you were in the park or have photos showing other areas affected by yesterday’s rain, please share them in the comments. We’d love to document what happened throughout the park and see the storm’s impact from different areas.

And as you’re out exploring, please use extra caution around newly eroded banks, washed-out areas, and changing creek conditions.

Thank you to Diana for taking the time to document and share these photos.

I hope lots of you are planning to come to the talk about the Dimple Dell ecosystem next Tuesday evening at 6:30 PM. It will be in the outdoor classroom in the Black Locust Grove close to the Muir-Poulsen Home. Parking is at the Mt Jordan Road Trailhead. Google Maps has labeled it as the Dimple Dell East Trailhead.

We need some feedback about navigation. People have been having trouble getting to the right place using Apple Maps and last month Google Maps didn't have it right. Please let us know which app you use and whether it is doing a good job or not. The house address is 2940 East Mt Jordan Road. Please note that the classroom is not in Granite Park it is in Dimple Dell Regional Park.

See you there!

Don't forget to come tonight!
