Erie County Community Foundation proudly celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Horizon Education Centers location on Cleveland Road in Sandusky today, with our community and philanthropic partners, including Mylander Foundation, Dorn Foundation, Child Care Resource Center, City of Sandusky, and the Greater Sandusky Partnership. It is incredibly rewarding to see this important community project rise from the ground. When it opens next year, it will improve access to high-quality childcare, supporting working parents and nurturing Erie County children through early childhood education and after school programs. Moderated by Matt Poyle of Lorain County Community College, this panel will bring together leaders with diverse backgrounds and experiences for a practical conversation focused on strengthening Erie County's nonprofit community.

Panelists will discuss resources available to nonprofit organizations, opportunities for collaboration and partnership, funding and organizational support, community connections, and ways nonprofit leaders can better navigate the local ecosystem.

The conversation will focus not only on what resources exist, but also on how nonprofit leaders can access them, build stronger relationships, identify new opportunities, and connect with organizations and individuals who can help advance their missions. We will also discuss lessons learned through leadership.

Attendees will leave with a better understanding of the resources available throughout Erie County, potential partners and connections, and practical ideas they can bring back to their organizations.

Please note: our office closes at 12:00 pm EDT Friday 7/31/26, and we will be unavailable to answer last-minute questions before the deadline. Please plan accordingly!

We encourage projects that collaborate among Erie County organizations, build organizational capacity, and address community needs. Must be a tax-exempt nonprofit to apply. Minimum grant award $1,000, typical range $1,000 - $20,000. Grants are generally awarded for one year only. Projects must serve Erie County residents.
