CHRISTMAS TOY HELP
Sandusky Salvation Army has a VERY limited number of spots available. (approximately 50 children)

Rather than on a first come first served basis like the original public online applications, these last few spots will be chosen based on need.

You must have either a Sandusky or Castalia address and must be at the same address and have legal custody of the children, and have ability to provide proof upon acceptance. (Do not include proof yet.)

Please respond with a private message (not to all, please!) by October 18th with the following 5 things:
1-Full Name,
2-Phone Number where you can be reached,
3-Email address,
4-Number of children under 12
5-Brief description of the circumstances behind your need for help this year.

Please respond by October 18th to be considered. Those chosen will be contacted within a few days of the deadline.

GET THE WORD OUT !!! Sandusky Ohio's help with Christmas toys should be opening up online on October 3rd. We have limited spots ... first come first served by when COMPLETED application is accepted. Last year the spots were gone by day 6, then as some were declined for incomplete application or addresses outside our area, it opened up new spots, so it is an ongoing process ... feel free to check back if there are no spots left.

New Warning: "Digital Arrest" Extortion Calls
• How it works: You receive a call from someone posing as a law enforcement official or government agent (such as a customs official or police officer) claiming you are the subject of a major criminal investigation or have an active warrant. They will hold you captive on a video call, threaten you with imprisonment, and use fake legal documents to pressure you into paying a "settlement" or fine.
• How to beat it: Hang up immediately. Legitimate law enforcement agencies will never call you to threaten arrest or demand payment over the phone. Court orders and warrants are always served via physical mail or in person.

How to Protect Yourself
• Do not answer calls from unknown numbers: If it is legitimate, they will leave a voicemail.
• Never read verification codes over the phone: Bank representatives or legitimate organizations will never ask you to read a secure access code back to them.
• Beware of AI generated voice calls. Listen carefully and ask lots of questions. If you are able, verify any call that is suspicious.
