Located in Queen Creek , Arizona, we rescue as many farm animals and horses from slaughter that we are able. We take in many in poor health, nurse them back and provide a safe haven for them to live their lives out. In some instances we will re home an animal to a forever family with a no slaughter/no breed contract, home inspection, references and back round check. We are a 501c3 non profit and rely solely on donations

Beatrice is our art enthusiast as well as art critic. She spends time each day looking at various art we have in her area and will let us know if she does or doesn't approve, and when she doesn't approve, she sure will have a lot to say about it! So far she approves of her nighttime coop decor.

Our Frizzle rooster Axle is looking more and more like a pinecone now that the weather is cooling. He is a "Frizzle' breed of rooster who was thrown over our fence about 6 years ago by someone who didn't want him. He is safe here and very wanted.

Sorry I haven't posted earlier today! I wasn't feeling well, but much better now! 😃 I am so thankful my husband is now retired to help out around here and for our amazing team of volunteers! Today was a pajama day for me! In the meanwhile here is a video Taryn took of little Charlotte who isnt so little anymore!

Pigeons are fascinating creatures with many surprising traits. Here are some fun facts about them:

Intelligence: Pigeons are known for their remarkable intelligence. They can recognize themselves in mirrors and can even learn to differentiate between different objects and images.
Homing Ability: Pigeons have an extraordinary homing instinct, allowing them to find their way back to their nests from long distances, sometimes over hundreds of miles.
Communication: They communicate through a variety of coos and calls, and they can also convey different meanings through their body language.
Historical Significance: Pigeons have been used in warfare for carrying messages, especially during World War I and II, showcasing their reliability.
Diverse Diet: Pigeons are not picky eaters; they consume a wide range of foods, including seeds, fruits, and even human food scraps.
Color Vision: Pigeons have excellent color vision, which is better than that of humans. They can see ultraviolet light, which helps them in foraging.
Pigeons mate for life.
The male and female can both produce crop milk to feed their young.
The fastest recorded pigeon flight clocks in at 92.5 miles per hour, though the typical racing velocity of a pigeon in flight is around 50 to 60 mph.

Pigeons were released when a boat was sinking to alert help where to find them before everyone drowned.

Pigeons have received many honors from both the French and British governments. Cher Ami, a pigeon serving with the US Army in France, was shot but still delivered its message, flying about 25 miles in around 25 minutes.

Another pigeon named G.I. Joe was credited with alerting British troops that an Italian town they had just captured was about to be bombed by Allied aircraft. With five minutes to spare, the troops were saved, thanks to a pigeon.
