A planned affordable senior housing development in Redwood City is moving to a new site closer to downtown.

The approved site change would relocate the project from Woodside Road to Veterans Boulevard, giving the proposed senior housing development a new path forward.

Affordable housing projects can face challenges long before construction begins, including finding a workable site and securing the financing needed to move ahead. In some cases, changing locations can help keep a project in the housing pipeline rather than allowing it to stall entirely.

For Redwood City, the site swap means plans for new affordable senior housing can continue moving forward at a different location.

Housing Leadership Day is tomorrow, Friday, October 30! 🏠

How can interim housing help build a more responsive housing system?

At Housing Leadership Day this Friday, October 30, “Beyond Business as Usual: The Role of Interim Housing in an Innovative Housing System” will explore how interim housing, permanent supportive housing, local subsidies, and collaboration can work together to meet urgent housing needs.

Moderator Joanne Price of DignityMoves joins David Amaral, Rose Cade, Pastor Paul Bains, and Kalimah Salahuddin to discuss approaches that help people find stability, build community, and move toward permanent housing.

An affordable homeownership development is advancing in Menlo Park’s Belle Haven neighborhood.

The Menlo Park Planning Commission has approved key permits and a Below Market Rate housing agreement for Laurel Landing, a proposed Habitat for Humanity development at 335–355 Pierce Road.

The project would transform a vacant property into eight townhomes for households earning no more than 80% of the area median income.

Creating affordable ownership opportunities can help families build long-term stability and remain connected to the communities where they live and work.

Join Yes SF for “Building Better: Women Innovating in CRE Sustainability,” featuring women founders and executives advancing sustainability in commercial real estate.

Among the featured innovators is Kit Switch, which recently completed 48 ready-to-install kitchens for a Homekey-funded motel conversion in Richmond. The conversation will explore prefabricated construction and the challenges of bringing these approaches into projects.

Congratulations to Coastside Faith in Action, our 2026 Housing Leader Award recipient! 🎉🏡

From Pacifica to Pescadero, Coastside Faith in Action brings together people of different faith traditions to listen to marginalized residents and work alongside them to create change.

As part of Faith in Action Bay Area, their work is guided by those most affected by injustice, including low-income families, workers, immigrants, and youth. Their shared belief: everyone in our community deserves safe, secure housing.

Learn where state housing law came from, how it affects Pacifica and other coastal communities, and what’s coming next.

A big thank you to One San Mateo and the City of San Mateo for hosting their third annual North Central Community Conversation!

These gatherings give residents, particularly members of the Latino community, an important opportunity to speak directly with City leadership about housing, displacement, and access to City services.
