This Pride Month, we’re celebrating every body, every story, and every fighter. 🏳️‍🌈

Breast and ovarian cancer don’t discriminate — and neither does our love and support.

To every LGBTQ+ person navigating a diagnosis: you are seen, you are held, and you are never alone.

Say hello to Andy, BACC’s newest Data Science Analyst!

Andy’s journey with us started long before his official title. He spent most of last year volunteering in our office twice a week, working on various data entry projects. It didn’t take long for us to realize we needed him on the team full-time.

Since joining in February, he’s been leveling up our data collection systems and turning existing data into meaningful insights.

Andy brings a background in cognitive science from UC San Diego, plus hands-on experience working in a psychiatric office and at HeartFlow, a biotech startup focused on coronary care. In his free time, he enjoys bouldering and playing Dungeons and Dragons with his brothers.

We couldn’t be more excited to have him officially part of the BACC family! Welcome, Andy!

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to an end, we recognize that a breast or ovarian cancer diagnosis affects far more than physical health. The emotional impact of cancer — including anxiety, isolation, grief, and uncertainty — can be just as overwhelming as the medical journey itself.

BACC offers a variety of support groups designed to meet people where they are — including groups for inviduals who are newly diagnosed, post-treatment, young adults under 45, diagnosed with metastatic cancer, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) community members, and more.

These groups provide a safe, compassionate space to connect, share experiences, and find support from others who understand. If you are interested in joining our support groups, please email us at [email protected] or call our Helpline at 650-326-6686.

This month, we celebrate our Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) community members — their resilience, leadership, cultures, and the many ways they strengthen our communities every day. We also recognize the importance of bringing greater awareness to breast cancer in AAPI communities.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting AAPI women, and incidence rates are rising faster in this population than in any other racial or ethnic group. AAPI women are also more likely to be diagnosed at a younger age, experience more aggressive HER2-positive breast cancers, and be diagnosed at later stages of the disease. Barriers to regular screening and culturally responsive care continue to impact outcomes.

This AAPI Heritage Month, we encourage conversations around breast health, early detection, and equitable access to care. Awareness saves lives — and every community deserves access to information, support, and compassionate care.

What better way to spend Mother’s Day than at the ballpark?

This past Sunday, our incredible BACC board members - who are both breast cancer survivors - Lisa Romano and Mary Coady represented BACC proudly at the Giants’ Mother’s Day Game.

Watching these women show up, full of joy and strength, is a reminder of why we do this work every day.

Wishing a belated Happy Mother’s Day to every mom in our community, especially those who have faced cancer with courage and grace. 🌸

Today, we honor what is even more important than a title: your countless acts of tenderness, sacrifice, patience, and protection.

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate every person who has ever loved fiercely or given a piece of themselves so someone else could grow.

In all your beautiful shapes and forms, you are seen, you are valued, and you are deeply, wholeheartedly appreciated.

We’re wishing you a beautiful, well-deserved day!
