Collaboration at its finest! Doug Bogart and Susan Naslund made their third (and final) trip in the van to the Imperial Beach Neighborhood Center to pick up a huge donation of food for the Shepherd's Pantry. What IBNC could not use in their feeding program, we will pass along to our neighbors. There is enough for everyone! Thank you for sharing the abundance, John Jigen Griffin-Atil!

Just like mom used to make! In honor of Mother's Day, a food drive at our sister campus, Foothills United Methodist Church, provided us with a cart full of baking items to distribute in the Shepherd's Pantry! Chocolate chip cookies? Cake? Brownies? What is the favorite sweet your mother made for you?

Here is Shepherd's Pantry Manager, Chris, amid an incredible amount of produce we had to offer our guests on Saturday morning. This is evidence that there is not a food acquisition problem in our county, but a food distribution problem. We were thrilled to welcome 412 households who received a bounty of fresh fruit, vegetables, bread, milk and eggs!

It is time to vote! The Envirotokens program at Lazy Acres Natural Market rewards customers who make the sustainable choice to reuse bags and keep single-use items out of local landfills. When customers shop at Lazy Acres and bring their own reusable bags, the store gives a 10¢ Envirotoken per bag. The customer then pays it forward to one of six local nonprofits that are hand-selected doing important work in our area, with a focus in K-12 education efforts, hunger relief and environmental stewardship. April is Earth Month and the Shepherd's Pantry has switched to using paper bags for packing nutritious food for guests who use our drive-through option on Saturday mornings. We are grateful for any large (new or used) paper bags you can donate to both keep down pantry operating costs and help the environment. Thank you!

We love our partnership with Senior Gleaners! Their goal is to feed the hungry by gathering surplus crops for food distributors across San Diego County. The GSMC is fortunate to be the recipient of tons of delicious citrus from homes in El Cajon through this amazing organization.
