Lucy Beckham wins the 2025 Hogan Keelboat National Invitational!

In the first year since we renamed the event in honor of recently-retired ISSA President Tim Hogan, the Bengals put on an impressive performance in St. Petersburg. The SAISA team from South Carolina won four races over the nine-race series, propelling them to a 12-point victory.

Fellow SAISA school H.B. Plant took second, while MASSA’s Christchurch School finished third. Congratulations to all 10 teams for a very competitive regatta!

Big thank you to St. Petersburg Yacht Club for hosting in their J/70 fleet and to Regatta Chair & PRO Todd Fedyszyn for running a great event.

This weekend, we appropriately presented outgoing President Tim Hogan with the President’s Award for his 19 years of service as ISSA’s leader!

Additionally, the ISSA Board of Directors unanimously voted to name the National Keelboat Regatta after Hogan. The first-ever Hogan National Keelboat Invitational will be contested in December.

Thank you again, Tim, for everything you’ve done for High School Sailing!

High School Sailing has a new president for the first time in nearly 20 years!

Yesterday, Rob Hurd was elected the 14th President of ISSA. Hurd replaces Tim Hogan, who has served since 2006 and guided High School Sailing through years of great growth and development. Hurd becomes the first full-time teacher & coach to lead the organization since 1989. He has been a board member since 2005, the last 13 as vice president.

We can’t thank President Hogan enough for his steady leadership and we are excited for President Hurd to continue ISSA’s good work!

Congratulations to the top three teams at the 2025 Phebe Corckran King Memorial Trophy this past weekend in Toms River, New Jersey!

1️⃣ Barrington High School
2️⃣ Severna Park
3️⃣ Greenwich High School

It was a windy weekend at Toms River Yacht Club for this annual ISSA National Invitational, but 18 teams from five districts - representing 12 different states - were treated to some great racing. The winning team - NESSA's Barrington - even took home a Rooster Flag, which is a historic tradition on the Barnegat Bay in New Jersey.

Our thanks to the MASSA District and TRYC for hosting the event!

What a tremendous weekend of sailing at Connecticut College for !

A full rotation of 40 races were completed in varying conditions, as these rockstar sailors contended with rain, big puffs, light air shifts, and nearly anything else the Thames River could throw at them.

Congratulations once again to Point Loma High School for winning the Fleet Race National Championship - just two weeks after capturing the win at the Baker Team Race Nationals!

All 20 teams should be proud to have represented their high schools at a National Championship that dates back some 95 years.

A big thanks to the NESSA District and the sailing team at Connecticut College for hosting this year!
