Youth Action Project

Empowering Inland Empire youth through education and workforce development opportunities. In other words, we want to stop problems before they start.

The Youth Action Project is a non-profit organization that works to empower San Bernardino’s youth to develop the skills and habits needed to experience economic and social success. Our work is intended to bring positive change by helping local youth graduate from high school, complete college or vocational training, develop work skills, and make responsible choices. If we enable our youth to beco

me educated, gainfully employed, responsible community members, we believe we can reduce the prevalence of crime, drugs, teenage pregnancy and poverty in our community. Statistics show that teens who participate in positive youth development activities graduate from high school and go on to college at dramatically higher rates than teens who don’t. Ultimately, our work benefits not only the youth, but the community as a whole. With a better-prepared workforce, our community can be a more desirable place for companies to locate, and local businesses can be more successful.

For National Black Business Month, Youth Action Project is proud to spotlight Hawkins Legal, P.C., one of our Youth Forward partner worksites.

Hawkins Legal, P.C., a San Bernardino-based law firm, provides legal guidance to public agencies, nonprofits, small businesses, executive leadership, and individuals navigating complex legal and workforce matters.

But our partnership goes beyond business.

Through Youth Forward, YAP supports young adults ages 16–24 with paid work experience, career exploration, work readiness training, educational assistance, case management, and supportive services.

Our worksite partnerships allow participants to gain experience in professional environments while developing the skills and confidence they need for their next step.

🌞 Rise and shine, future leaders! Did you know YAP has an early sunrise program? Come grab free breakfast, get help with your grades, or meet new friends.

⏰Sierra High School (HS), sunrise program is available from 7:15am till breakfast time, Monday thru Friday.

According to research, ""students are more alert and better able to concentrate in the morning. Attending classes early helps them retain more information and perform better on tests and assignments"" (Afterschool Alliance, National Conference of State Legislatures).
