A word that's wildly known, but a behavior which is so often forgotten; that of doing business with the people who put food on your table.

It literally breaks my heart to see folks who run local businesses brag about their Amazon "haul", post pics of their Dunkin coffees, and talk about Walmart shopping trips. Many of them - perhaps without thinking it through? - drive past locally owned retailers, ignore indie companies, and pick chain eateries each week without ever considering better options. Why? Why would we expect support from the local community and then ignore them? That's where the art of reciprocation comes in.

Interesting article.....but what got my attention was this quote about indie record shops;

"Before you scoff at it, though remember that it is the upcoming generation that has revived vinyl records, bringing them back from near death to to a $1.5 billion a year market."
