RACCOON TESTS POSITIVE FOR RABIES IN WICOMICO COUNTY On June 12 2026, a raccoon tested positive for rabies in the area of
Kensington Woods and Upper Ferry Road in Salisbury Maryland, after contact with a dog. The Wicomico County Health Department is advising all residents to be aware of their surroundings and avoid contact with all wild or stray animals.

Want to help our shelter dogs get some fresh air and exercise? We're always looking for volunteer dog walkers (18+)! The best part? No need to sign up ahead of time. Simply stop by during our dog walking hours, let our staff know you're here to help walk dogs, and we'll get you started.

With more than 50 dogs in our care, every walk makes a difference. More walks mean more time outside the kennel, happier pups, and extra enrichment for the dogs waiting for their furever homes.

📅 Dog Walking Hours:
• Tuesday–Friday: 11:00 AM–4:30 PM
• Saturday: 11:30 AM–3:30 PM
