Today was an incredible and exciting day for the Salem CTE Center as we celebrated the immense talent within our Engineering, Biomedical Science, and Graphic Design programs. Our Engineering and Bio Med students took the stage to present their culminating Capstone projects, pitching their innovative solutions directly to industry partners and peers.

Simultaneously, our Graphic Design students hosted a spectacular showcase of their creative work, sharing their creations with parents, peers, and local professionals.

The atmosphere at Salem CTE was buzzing with energy, and our students were absolutely beaming with pride while maintaining the utmost professionalism in their deliveries. It was an awesome day that highlighted exactly what makes career and technical education so impactful, and we could not be prouder of these talented individuals.

Salem CTE Completer Ceremony

Yesterday was an incredibly proud and historic day at the Salem CTE Center as we celebrated our first annual CTE Completer ceremony. More than 215 dedicated students from Salem, Pelham, Timberlane, and Windham High Schools were honored for completing four semesters of a Career and Technical Education program. Each student was recognized with a certificate and a special pin to wear proudly on graduation day, symbolizing two or more years of hard work, hands-on learning, and perseverance. It was an exceptionally meaningful moment for our CTE teachers, who have mentored and watched these students grow throughout their multi-year journeys. Congratulations to all of our completers on reaching this remarkable milestone, and thank you to the educators and families who supported them every step of the way.

Today was an incredible learning experience for many students from the Salem CTE Center as our Health Science EMT program hosted a Mock Mass Casualty event. This large-scale simulation brought together students from multiple programs, including cosmetology, TV media, the Criminal Justice ELO program, the Fire Science ELO program, Health Science LNA program, and Teacher Prep, who all worked collaboratively to create a realistic scenario so the EMT students could practice their learned skills in a high-pressure environment.

We are profoundly grateful for the vital support and collaboration from the Salem Fire Department and the Salem Police Department. A special thank you goes out to our local first responders for coming to guide our students, sharing their expertise, and helping to shape the next generation of emergency professionals.

Last night at the Salem School District school board meeting, we had the absolute pleasure of watching Sarah Mitchell, an incredibly talented student from our Salem CTE Center graphic design program, receive well-deserved recognition for her outstanding work. Sarah designed the fantastic "See Something, Say Something" posters that are currently hanging throughout the halls of Salem High School. It is inspiring to see our students using the real-world skills they develop at the CTE Center to make a meaningful, positive impact right here in our own school community.

Please join us in congratulating Sarah on this special honor, as we are all incredibly proud of her hard work, creativity, and dedication to keeping our school safe.

Meet Piper, a senior at Salem High School who is gaining incredible medical experience through her internship at Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital right here in Salem, NH. Her mentor, Abby, is a skilled physical therapist who has been showing Piper the ins and outs of patient care. This opportunity is particularly impactful because Piper is interested in neuroscience and aspires to become a neurosurgeon one day. Through her time at the hospital, Piper is gaining firsthand knowledge of how the brain works alongside the mechanisms of rehabilitation. She has integrated so seamlessly and been such a huge support in the hospital setting that it is truly hard to decipher whether she is an intern or a full-time employee. A huge thank you to Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital for taking on our students and supporting their career paths, and best of luck to Piper next year as she heads off to college to pursue her dreams in medicine!

Meet Autumn-Rose, Giana, Alexsa, and Megan, a group of dedicated Salem High School seniors who have been completing their internships at Merrimack Valley Health's Lawrence Hospital. Their mentor, Kristin Gorrie, has been a huge support system, helping them navigate their experiences across many different departments of interest throughout the busy hospital. These students have rotated through radiology, mammography, the laboratory, the emergency department, and pediatrics, getting a comprehensive look at the healthcare world. They have seen an incredible amount and have provided wonderful assistance to the medical staff by cleaning, organizing, delivering supplies, and communicating with patients. A huge thank you to the staff at Lawrence General and to Kristin for the immense time and effort it takes to manage students coming and going in a fast-paced hospital setting. All four of these students are moving on to pursue professions in the medical field after graduation, and this immersive experience has wholeheartedly solidified their decisions to become the next generation of healthcare heroes!
