SWMI Indivisible is disappointed, but hardly shocked, to learn that our complicit, cowardly GOP State and U.S. Representatives Brad Paquette and Tim Walberg cancelled their scheduled and confirmed appearances at the Town Hall sponsored by the NAACP of Niles-Buchanan just hours before the event's scheduled start time.
Yes, once again, constitituents were left wondering, "Where's Walberg?" And, "Peek A Boo" Paquette - hiding again?
This only affirms our commitment, and we hope yours, to work harder and collaboratively to ensure that they are removed from office in 2026.
We applaud the NAACP of Niles-Buchanan and all involved in the planning of this. We also share the disappointment and frustration of all those who made the commitment and did, in fact, show up for the event driving from all parts of SW Michigan to be there, despite the higher gas prices caused by the Trump Administration's War of Choice.
On a POSITIVE note, Democratic candidates for office Christian Vukasovich, Brett Muchow and Angela Jones and Mike Jones (no relation) DID attend, as confirmed and the Town Hall went on. The Dem candidates used the opportunity to speak to and hear from community residents about the issues of concern to them. As always, Dems can be counted on to show up, stand up and to honor their commitments.
We look forward to the next scheduled candidate events and Town Halls.
Watch this space for SWMI Indivisibles' next planned event.
