November 2024 we celebrated the installation of the MLK Monuments in Benton Harbor and St. Joseph, led by the Unified Civic Monuments Project.

As part of our promise, we will continue to care for the monuments through annual cleanings, ensuring they remain points of pride within our community. Please join us this June 1 for a Day of Care & Fellowship.

Date: June 1, 2026
Time: 12:00 PM
Locations: 1st: Dwight P. Mitchell City Center Park; 2nd: Margaret B. Upton Arboretum
Goal: to care for the monuments and have them looking their best before the Juneteenth holiday.

Caring for the monuments entails a waxing and buffing process. This is a simple act of labor that onlookers will be welcome to participate in. Care will be led by the AFrican AMerican History & Literature Gallery and Krasl Art Center.

Please join us.

MLK's son, Martin Luther King III, was the special guest at this "monument-ous" occasion. Thank you to all who attended and support the unveiling!
