The Central Minnesota Housing Partnership, Inc. (CMHP) is a regional non-profit 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in May 1993.

CMHP is a non-profit, regional Community Housing Development Organization committed to assisting underserved communities to preserve, improve and increase affordable housing for low and moderate income families and individuals. Our Mission: We are committed to assisting underserved communities to preserve, improve and increase affordable housing for low and moderate income families and individuals. Soon after incorporation, CMHP received its 501(c)(3) designation. In February 1994, CMHP was designated as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) by the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency. The organization was created with the goals of preserving, improving and increasing the affordable housing stock in Central Minnesota. These goals have been achieved over the years through a variety of innovative programs and services offering affordable housing to low and moderate income households and we continue to strive to achieve the same goals today that were set from the start. Our service area includes 16 counties in Central Minnesota: These counties include Aitkin, Benton, Carlton, Cass, Chisago, Crow Wing, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Pine, Sherburne, Stearns, Todd, Wright and Wadena. We provide a variety of services including affordable rental housing, affordable homeownership opportunities, rental housing rehab programs, homebuyer education and counseling and planning and development.

CMHP Executive Director Deanna Hemmesch attended Anna Marie’s Alliance’s Inspiring Hope Breakfast on October 28 at The Park Event Center in St. Cloud.

Held during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the event raises awareness and supports vital services, including safe shelter, advocacy, education, and resources for survivors of domestic violence.

A special thank you to Minnwest Bank, a proud sponsor of the event, for inviting Deanna to attend this meaningful gathering, and to Anna Marie’s Alliance for the incredible work you do to bring hope, safety, and support to individuals and families throughout our communities!

CMHP is pleased to announce the recent acquisition of Maple Manor in Maple Lake, Minnesota!

We are excited to welcome Maple Manor to our growing portfolio of housing communities and continue our mission of preserving and expanding affordable housing opportunities throughout Central Minnesota.

Central Minnesota Housing Partnership (CMHP) has been awarded up to $80,000 through Minnesota Housing’s Regional Planning Grant to Prevent and End Homelessness (RPG) program on behalf of the Central Minnesota Continuum of Care (CoC).

The funding is designated entirely for Planning Support and Capacity Enhancement and will support regional efforts to strengthen planning, coordination, and capacity to prevent and end homelessness.

The grant period is expected to run from January 1, 2027, through December 31, 2028, with funding available once the contract is fully executed and all required conditions are met.

This two-year investment will provide additional resources to support the Central Minnesota CoC’s ongoing regional planning and coordination efforts across the 13-county area.

Grant Funds Available for Homeowners in St. Joseph!

CMHP is partnering with the City of St. Joseph to help eligible homeowners make needed repairs to their homes through the Small Cities Development Program (SCDP).

Funding may be available for projects such as roofing, siding, windows, doors, plumbing, electrical, heating systems, and more.

CMHP Executive Director Deanna Hemmesch attended the Initiative Foundation’s (IF) 40th Anniversary Gathering in Nisswa, where Verna Toenyan was recognized by IF President Brian Voerding as a 2026 Good Neighbor Honoree!

Verna has been a driving force in Eagle Bend, from her work with Hilltop Regional Kitchen, to working alongside CMHP on the development of Hilltop Square Apartments, and now her continued work on the Hilltop Auditorium.

Verna has been a valued partner of CMHP, and we are grateful for her dedication to strengthening the community. Congratulations, Verna, on this well-deserved recognition!
