October Blacksmith Association Meeting Recap!

At our October 10th meeting, Carter Hundley demonstrated a portable tool stand inspired by one shared by the Florida Artist Blacksmith Association. He enhanced the design with a wedged tenon joint, allowing the stand to be disassembled for easy transport, while showcasing a variety of blacksmithing techniques.

A special thank-you to Carter for preparing such an impressive and informative demonstration with only two days’ notice! We greatly appreciate his time, effort, and craftsmanship. Special recognition also goes to Sunrise Forge for hosting the meeting.

These meetings are a valuable source of information and learning for both new and experienced blacksmiths.

Hello Smiths,

We have had to cancel the club meeting and demonstration with Fred Crist. Dominion Power is working on a transformer and there is no power for Fred's shop this weekend. We will reschedule with Fred for next year.

As an alternative demonstration, we have moved our demo location to Sunrise Forge in Rustburg and Carter Hundley will be our demonstrator. It is the same day, same time, October 10th, at 10am. We apologize for the short notice but it was unavoidable. Please come see Carter demonstrate a forged hammer/tong rack at David's Sunrise Forge. We look forward to seeing you at this next meeting.

Here are some pictures from our demonstration at the Wysong Blacksmith Shop during the Historic Fincastle Festival last weekend.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by to watch, ask questions, and support our blacksmith group! It was a great day sharing our craft, and demonstrating some forging techniques.

🔥 Blacksmith Club Meeting Recap! 🔨

September’s meeting was a great success, with club members bringing their own forges and spending the day working together at the forge.

The project was a hand-forged coat hook, giving everyone an opportunity to practice techniques. Members shared their knowledge, offered encouragement, and helped one another throughout the project.

These meetings are a wonderful opportunity to make something useful, learn from fellow blacksmiths, and enjoy the craft together.

Thank you to everyone who brought a forge, helped with the project, and participated. We look forward to seeing what everyone forges next!
