Don’t forget to vote!

This April, Virginia is holding a special election to decide the issue of mid-cycle redistricting ahead of the general election in November. You can read more about the ballot measure here (https://www.elections.virginia.gov/election-law/proposed-amendment-for-april-2026-special-election/).

Below are important dates and reminders about the election:

If you have not already registered, there is still time! Be sure to register or update your registration by April 14, 2026.

If you want to apply for a ballot to be mailed to you, be sure to do so by April 10, 2026. Directions can be found at the Citizen Portal here (https://www.elections.virginia.gov/citizen-portal/).

NOTE: If you choose to mail your ballot back in, be sure it is postmarked no later than April 21, 2026. To ensure a valid postmark, take it to a post office and ask for it to be postmarked there. Your ballot must be received by the registrar by 12 noon on April 24, 2026. If you choose to return your completed ballot in-person to the registrar, there is a dropbox outside the registrar's office in Rustburg for your convenience. You should be sure to drop off your ballot by April 21.

If you want to vote early in-person, you can do so at the registrar’s office until April 18, 2026.

Mailers alleged to be misleading are being investigated by the Virginia State Conference of the NAACP and Virginia Attorney General Jay Jones. Click or copy the link to read the article from 13 News Now out of Norfolk:

Political mailers (shown below) seem to have been stylized and worded in ways to target Black voters.

Campbell County NAACP is a non-partisan organization and is NOT endorsing a position on the referendum in this post. The picture has been redacted to remove voting instructions and recipient address.

Thank you to everyone who made our program possible yesterday and to everyone who came out in support! Thanks also to WSET for showcasing our program!

Over 100 people gathered at the Rustburg High School to take part in the Campbell County NAACP Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration.

01/19/2026

Today, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a visionary whose courage and sacrifice forever changed the course of our nation.

WE are Dr. King’s legacy.

Every voice raised against injustice, every action taken to fight inequity, continues the tradition of progress he championed. We owe it to him—and to ourselves—not to let anyone drag us back to darker times.

So, we ask: What does honoring Dr. King look like to you? Let’s keep his dream alive.

Be sure to come out and join us tomorrow at 2 PM at Rustburg High School!
