A big THANK YOU to the amazing young ladies from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Youth Girls Group for volunteering their time to help River Valley Food 4 Kids!

Together, they packed 81 boxes for kids and families using our Pantry Program! Thatā€™s 81 families receiving a little extra help putting food on the table.

We are so grateful for groups like these who show up, lend a hand, and help us make a difference right here in our community. Thank you for being part of the team that helps us give hunger a break! ā¤ļøšŸ’™

šŸ“£ Volunteers Needed! Help Us Deliver Backpack Meals to Local Schools!

Our next Backpack Program delivery is coming up, and we need volunteers to help get food into the hands of local kids!

Each week, River Valley Food 4 Kids provides weekend food bags to kids who may not have enough to eat when school is out. We need volunteers to help deliver these bags to our participating schools so theyā€™re ready for kids to take home.

Youth ages 8-18 are invited to join us for a fun, hands-on cooking class where we'll make Thanksgiving Leftovers Burritos while learning kitchen skills, food safety, and creative ways to reduce food waste!

Participants will practice measuring ingredients, assembling recipes, safely handling leftovers, and rolling burritos while creating their own tasty meal.

šŸš Celebrating National Rice Month with our kid chefs!

Kristin Ulsperger from the Pope County Extension Office led our September cooking class again, teaching our kid chefs about Arkansas rice production in honor of National Rice Month! Weā€™re so grateful for our continued partnership and the opportunities they provide for our kids to learn.

After learning how this important crop is grown right here in Arkansas, our chefs put their knowledge into practice by making their own version of chicken and rice. They also got to try something new with champorado, a special chocolate rice porridge from the Philippines!

A big thank-you to Rechell Harrell, mom of our very own Youth Ambassador Makayla Harrell, for leading the cooking lesson and sharing a taste of Filipino culture with our kids.

We also want to thank the Junior Auxiliary of Russellville Crown Club girls for volunteering their time and helping make our cooking class a success! We appreciate everyone who gives their time and talents to create meaningful learning experiences for our kid chefs.

From learning about Arkansas agriculture to exploring new flavors and building kitchen skills, our September class was full of discovery!

At River Valley Food 4 Kids, we want to make sure your family gets the food you need while helping keep our small staff, volunteers, and other families healthy.

ā›”If you or your kids are sick on the day of your Pantry appointment, please stay in your vehicle!

šŸŽ IN CASE YOU HAVENā€™T HEARDā€¦ FOOD 4 FINES IS BACK! šŸ„«

Help feed local kids while reducing eligible court fines! Through October 31, Pope County residents can participate in Food 4 Fines, a community partnership between Pope County District Judge Deidre Luker and River Valley Food 4 Kids.

Hereā€™s how it works:

šŸ„« $10 off eligible fines for each food item donated.
šŸŽ Donate up to 10 items for a total of $100 in credit.
šŸ„£ Eligible items include canned goods, individual snacks, ramen, and macaroni and cheese.

šŸ“A few important rules: All donated items must be unopened and within their expiration date.

You can donate at participating district courts in Russellville, Pottsville, Atkins, Dover, London, and Pope County.

Weā€™re incredibly grateful to Judge Luker for bringing Food 4 Fines back this year! Last yearā€™s donations made a real difference during our holiday distributions, and weā€™re excited to see our community come together again to help local kids.
