Universal Housing Development Corporation (UHDC) was established in 1971 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization operating in the Second and Fourth Congressional Districts of Arkansas. During this time UHDC has never defaulted on any financial obligation of any type nor been judged unsatisfactory in the completion of program requirements. Although we target low-income individuals, UHDC’s programs a

re available to help anyone who comes to UHDC, whether they are a renter, potential or existing homeowner, disabled, elderly or a member of a minority or ethnic group. What form this assistance will take depends on the eligibility guidelines of each individual program. Helping people, building dreams is more than our motto - it describes what we do. We offer a wide range of programs and services to meet the housing-related needs in our nine-county service area. We help them and their families by providing programs, information and resources that empower them to reach their dreams. We also help by raising awareness through public outreach and media. Today, we celebrated NeighborWorks Weeks by spending the day working on several Self-Help Program homes. Every hour of hard work and teamwork brings families one step closer to achieving their dream of homeownership.
The Self-Help Program is about more than building houses—it's about building opportunities, strengthening communities, and creating a foundation for future generations.

Earlier today, many housing agencies across the country did not receive Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) for the month of June. Recently HUD sent an email to housing agency executive directors stating that housing agencies would receive the HAP in their accounts tomorrow (June 2, 2026). The Department noted that it “. . . has been working closely with the U.S. Treasury to address the issue.”
