Let’s see your plans!

New Year. New Barn. New Resolutions.

A new year is a good time to take stock of the barns we love and care for.

This January, we invite you to share one barn resolution for the year ahead.

It might be:

Fixing a roof

Painting doors

Repairing siding

Cleaning out a bay

Planning a larger restoration project

Post a photo of your barn as it looks today and tell us one project you plan to tackle this year.

Big or small, every step matters. Every improvement helps keep Indiana’s barns standing strong for the next generation.

Let’s make this a good year for good barns.

Take an opportunity to apply for a grant! These grants help offset the costs of restoring and preserving Indiana barns. We would love to see this year’s grant winner come from Rush county!

Save the Rudicel-Montgomery Barn Week continues‼

This Shelby County landmark has been on the landscape since 1910 and now it needs our help so it can remain on the landscape for another 115 years. The plight of the barn is like a poster child for Indiana's heritage barns, much loved by many including the owners. But too often these barns are in need of repairs that are more costly than can be handled, particularly with changes in agriculture across the state. Join the campaign to save the barn with a donation toward the stabilization, and if even more can be raised, the full rehabilitation. A matching campaign is underway through November through the Blue River Community Foundation. Find our more on their page or website at https://www.blueriverfoundation.com

Help our Shelby County neighbors!

We are so close to our goal of raising funds to help restore the Rudicel-Montgomery Barn! With the help of local donors and even donors across the state and the United States, we have almost met our $20K goal!
Remember, if we reach $20K, the Brown Family Charitable Fund from the Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County will provide an additiona $40K contribution, matching the donations of BRCF and our donors creating an $80K impact to the restoration project.
We believe that history deserves a future. With your help, contributions from Shelby County Tourism, Indiana Barn Foundation, Indiana Landmarks, and the Montgomery family, we can restore the Rudicel-Montgomery Barn and ensure it stands for another century as a beacon of Shelby County’s ingenuity, resilience, and spirit.
