🇺🇸 **VIETNAM ERA VETERANS —TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 1st 10am!** 🇺🇸

This monthly group is led by Allen Jones! He's one of Rowlett’s own 2024 Hometown Heroes, a decorated Vietnam Veteran, in collaboration with Domingo Rodriguez of the Military Veteran Peer Network. Together, they’ve helped create a place where Vietnam Era veterans can come together, reconnect, and enjoy the camaraderie of those who understand.

⭐ **SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER: MICHAEL KUKLENSKI** ⭐

Michael is one of our own VROC veterans and a member of the **Marine Corps League**, with an incredible story of courage, survival, and resilience. While serving as a **U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman attached to Company A, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division in Vietnam**, Michael was seriously wounded during an attack in May 1969. Despite his own wounds, he refused treatment and continued caring for injured Marines and pulling them to safety. His extraordinary gallantry earned him the **Silver Star**, with additional decorations including the **Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.** 🇺🇸

❤️ If you or someone you know would like to come hear Michael share his remarkable story of resilience, strength, courage, and hope. You are welcome to join us Tuesday morning and help us honor this incredible Vietnam Veteran.

Mark your calendars Tuesday, August 18th 11am-3pm is going to be a BIG day at the VROC!
This month we’re teaming up with Carter BloodCare to host a **BLOOD DRIVE at the same time!** 🩸❤️

🩸 The Carter BloodCare truck will be right out front from **11 AM–3 PM**. Stop by to donate blood, then head inside and enjoy everything happening at our Resource Fair!

🎁 **Blood donors will receive a stainless-steel canteen while supplies last!**

📢 VROC SCHEDULE UPDATE – ABOUT DALLAS COUNTY VETERAN SERVICES 🇺🇸

Just a quick heads-up to our veteran community! 🇺🇸

Dallas County Veteran Service Officers will NOT be at the VROC today, Wednesday, August 12th, as they are attending an all-day training.

They will be back at the VROC next week:

🇺🇸 AUGUST IS ALREADY BUSY & BUZZING AT THE VROC! 🇺🇸

August is already starting off as another busy and exciting month here at the VROC —
So far in August we've had our popular Vietnam Era Veterans Breakfast Social, Sisterhood in Service, weekly Dallas County Veteran Services helping our vets file for VA benefits), Bible Study, Dallas Chapter, Military Veteran Peer Network, our amazing biweekly volunteers from the National Charity League, and so much more! This all has kept this place full of activity, laughter, fellowship, resources, and — most importantly — veterans supporting veterans. 🇺🇸❤️

And then there are our VROC volunteers, who continue to step up & help me keep this crazy, wonderful place pulled together and organized!🤗

On a more personal note... ❤️
The past seven weeks have been challenging after breaking my ankle in a car accident, but they've also given me a beautiful reminder of what we say here at the VROC: We Find Strength Through Community!

With a community like this behind us, I can't wait to see what the rest of August brings to the VROC! 🙌🏼

Calling all sewers, crocheters, crafters, card makers, diamond art lovers… and anyone who just enjoys creating for a good cause! ❤️🤍💙

Our Stars & Stitches Craft Guild is getting together this Thursday, August 13th from 1PM–4PM at the VROC, and EVERYONE is welcome! You do not have to be a veteran to join us.
