We honor the life of Hugh Bromiley—a man whose love for Jesus, passion for freedom, and extravagant love for people touched countless lives. Alongside Monte, Hugh has helped mentor, shape, and guide us as we birthed Restore’s Finding Freedom. We are deeply grateful for his friendship, wisdom, and faithful service. He will be deeply missed. Our hearts go out to his precious wife, Monte.
𝐎𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐲
Reverend Hugh Philip Bromiley was born on August 29, 1953, in Aldershot, England, and stepped across the thin veil of this life into the eternal one on August 23, 2026, in Staples, Texas.
He is survived by his beloved wife Monte Bromiley, his sisters Gillian Currier and Belinda Ferris, his nieces and nephews Camilla, Patrick, Joanna, Jake and Jessica. His children Jeremy Rector, Jenny and Mark McConkey (Helena, Jude, Maya, Eva), Joel and Sarah Rector (Noah, Judah), James and Lauren Rector (Josie, James), India Allen (Katie, Henry, Flynn) and Jeri Adams (Nicola, Morgan).
Hugh began his education at St. Edward’s School in Oxford, where he hated wearing shorts, and completed that education with a Master’s Degree in Theology from Oxford University. He made it his life’s work to serve the Lord, love people, pursue healing, and see people set free.
In these pursuits, he became a published author, an ordained Anglican priest for 25 years, a Christian counselor, and a healing minister. He was a black belt in martial arts, a marathon runner, a master at chess, and Monte’s spades co-champion. For all of Hugh’s gifts and callings, he counted it his highest honor to be a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a friend.
All of us who knew Hugh will remember a man who entered every room with merriment, hugs, and words of affirmation. We knew him as a lover of fine w**e, good food, and great company. His vocabulary was vast, his laughter was loud, and his love was extravagant. We ache in his absence, but we do not grieve as those without hope. We will see you soon, Hugh. Well done, good and faithful servant.
